Discussion about possible inconsistencies in reach.

As of now, all that we can say for sure is that less than 50 SPARTAN-IIs were at the Battle of Reach, and the majority were killed.
I agree. By the time of reach, there were a lot of Spartans already deployed.

U think we may find random clips of messages or data packs or something of the sort with intel relating to any of them? possible kool little side stories me thinks! But that could be a wishful idea possibly... :(

The repeater sucks, it only does as much damage as the plasma pistol, i dont care how fast it shoots, it overheats too fast, and takes too long to cool.
The MA5 assault rifle blasts out a whole mag, and reloads in a second, owning the repeater.

The plasma rifle however, fires a powerful shot, doing more damage in the same time as the MA5, and cools in a second.

Basically the plasma rifle and assault rifle are matched, except for the dual wield of the plasma rifle, which is more awesome.
The plasma repeater is basically a fancy flashlight, unless an elite dual wields, then its almost as powerful as the plasma rifle.

Acctualy i would have to say that the plasma pistol is better then the repeater, they really did a awsome tune up with it, almost if not just as good as a normal Pistol. Killed 3 people in one match with it ;)

I have noticed alot of very high brow inconsistencies with canon. Mainly the very instance that Spartan-IIIs were on Reach and not Spartan-IIs who were really the ones fighting the invasion force. Also the Pillar of Autumn was never on the surface of Reach. As for your problem. They may have replaced it due to the fact the plasma rifle has better accuracy at distance and is easier to lug around than a large bulky plasma hellstorm gun. The needler rifle is another weapon i'm rather suprised you didn't bring up but quick comparison to the carbine of halo 2 & 3 show that it was inefficient.

Here's an idea
The Pillar of Autumn was a assigned a secret mission, thus, weapons like the M7 SMG, M6G, or even the M6 Grendel/Galilean Non-Linear Rifle (Spartan Laser for those not in the know) would not have been issued. Even heavy weapons like the M19 rocket launcher, or specialist weapons like the SRS-99D S2-AM sniper rifle are rare, with the latter only appearing in three missions. Likewise, the fleet that pursued them, or rather the squadron, was relatively small, and was more than likely part of a support group, rather than the actual invasion force. This means that they would not have been loaded for a planetary assault.

On a different note, anybody miss the Specter?

Actually, the Spartan-II's were planetside. There is at least one radio transmission referencing them (check www.halopedian.com). Also, if you place the events of "Pillar of Autumn" during the actual space battle in The Fall of Reach, then there is only one inconsistency left: Autie Dot's (the AI in Reach) information about the reinforcements, as stated after the fourth mission.

It goes something like this:
"60% of the UNSC fleet is en-route from other deployments. Estimated time of arrival, 48 hours"

I'd estimate that there are only 36 hours (give or take) between that statement and the departure of the Autumn. It is possible that a handful of ships were closer, and therefore arrived sooner, engaging the Covenant fleet before the rest could arrive. Also, the Long Night of Solace may have been an example of one of those "sniper ships" from The Fall of Reach. It did have a powerful energy projector.

LOL when I read these posts I begin to feel that my irritation is either kinda silly, or it has been covered some where else. Anyhow I didn't like how Noble 6 gets Cortana from Dr. H. and gives her up at the end of Reach to Keys. If I remember correctly didn't John (117) get her directly from the Dr?

No. The PoA had two AI's if my memory is correct. Cortana was brought to the ship prior to the Battle for Reach. It is an obvious Canon error but Bungie likes to mess Canon so we have to go by the games and not by the books. It makes me sad seeing so many canon errors in Reach. Which is why i personally dont like the campaign. First off Carter and Jun shouldnt Exist theyre from Alpha Company which was Obliterated with no survivors. Jorge shouldnt have died because Reach had about 20 Mac Platforms. The Battle of Reach Campaign wise takes over a month but book wise Reach falls in days.

/Canon rant

Cortana split off a fragment of herself to process the Forerunner artifact, and the PoA needed the data on that artifact, in the shard of Cortana that wasn't already aboard the ship, for its mission.

She was, for all intents and purposes, already on the ship, but a piece of her, with knowledge about the Forerunner, wasn't yet.

One thing I find inaccurate is the fact there are brutes on reach, which is before Halo CE (no brutes there?!)

Brutes weren't in the Fleet of Particular Justice, which Thel 'Vadamee commanded to Installation 04. However, several of the Covenant fleets that attacked Reach carried platoons of Jiralhanae. Jiralhanae were deployed by the Covenant several times prior to Reach, and in all engagements after.

Got Armour, I think she may have known how, before, but didn't use it until. I'd have to re-read First Strike to be sure.

not to mention the ships that chased the pillar of autum were part of the reserve units and only the best soldiers are equiped with the better weapons, since being in the reserve units they probally weren't that experianced there 4 weren't givin very good weapons

Yea I have to agree with you "RadioactiveMicrobe" on the time period issue. I actually did like the basic storyline but like I said before the last half ruined it for me.
