Hello all!

I am starting my Reach armor so I've decided to make a thread in order to keep things in order. So far what I have done is download files thanks to the armory and everyone who put in the work, as well as purchased a file from Etsy of the Haunted Pilot helmet. My buddy is printing the helmet for me while I do everything else. The design will be based off of my character but also some images I've found online, which will be posted. In terms of color scheme; I'm undecided. I want to do the all black but also want to stick out at cons. Maybe I'll just have to build to sets off armor! The DMR and pistol outlines have been printed, all I need to do is purchase foam boards from lowes. I am so excited to start this project and share it with you all, and I am thankful for any criticism and support.

ps. My gamertag is Wicked Demon15, of anyone wants to play customs or anything. I'm not very good, sometimes.

Update! So I've started the build finally after printing issues. So far I've only done the front chest components, I still need to trace, cut, and heat gun the bendy parts. I did learn to add angle cuts but not until the main center piece. I honestly didn't need to resize the file provided by the armory, but we will see once I add the rest. I'm still waiting on the helmet and will update with more pics

Looks good, your pattern layout on the foam is very nice. Not much waste, makes me happy. do You have a dremel tool? you can clean up your cuts with it, also you can sharpen your knife blades with 180-200 grit sandpaper to make angle cuts a lot easier.

Thank you! Yeah I'm trying to use as much space a possible, don't want to buy too much foam. I am thinking about getting one.

This is gonna be sick, I've always been a fan of the Haunted Helmet. Your progress looks great so far too, keep it up!

So I'm just about done with the chest and back piece, but I've come to a dimension issue on the back. I noticed i messed up once I seen that the back panels are at an angle, then I looked back to the template and realized I forgot to add angles. The white stuff all over is hot glue. Using it to fill in the creases and small gaps. Any suggestions?

Update on the build!! So I've been MIA for a bit (wedding and house hunting) but I'm back at it. I have fixed the bank of the torso by just rebuilding it. And I have purchased a 3D printer. Just feeling the waters right now, but I have just taken off the knife! Just need glued and primed.

Here is a side by side to a Chief helmet I made back in 2010 with papakura. Never got to finish it, mostly because even after all these years the bondo in the back neck area still seems wet? Like it's mushy almost.

Printing helmet complete and it fits! Except when I take it off it's a little tight but that can be fixed. With the EOD being more girthy than other helms, I was worried. All that's left to do now is weld it together, fill in the gaps, infill with resin, and paint! Fits nicely with the chest.

Just finished first bicep. I am skeptical with the size, it seems way too big. At least on the printer it did. When I put it on with the chest it seems to work? What do you guys think. I might just keep the size that way I don't need to print another set.

Sizing looks good. I noticed that my own bicep prints may have been a bit small as they sit a little low and I need to cut a lot off as to not lose circulation. And while my biceps are too small, the forearms I printed are too long and I can't bend my arms as far as I could due to this. Everything looks fine once it goes on though.
