good to see youre able to find more time to work on this stuff, i love seeing your progress. i know how you feel about school and life getting in the way, i havent been able to even assemble robos bicep yet. :cautious: darn school. i dont think il be making the pilot just a regular marine.

sweet, this is coming along fast...
I'll help unfolding if it's wanted/needed, if not then forget that i said anything...

been a while since I stopped and checked, but man you're coming along with it...

everyone has been looking forward to this for some time now, good luck

I planned on making the pilot for a friend, so the pilot idea would be nice, but it really shouldn't be priority at this point...

I hope that you don't mind some critique on your work but I noticed a big difference between a reference pic in the gallery and your chest piece:

The lower tips of the chest piece on the reference pic appear pointing down whereas those parts on your piece look pointing sideways. Or am I comparing your piece to a different reference pic?

Other than that, your model looks very, very nice.

@ bilsy: Your Welcome!

@ Ral: I didn't use that particular reference pic. All of mine are mainly angled views, and I made that piece to the closest I could to my photos. I may very well have screwed up the angle. I just checked the Marine gallery and noticed there's a ton more reference shots now then when I made this thing a few months ago.

@ SKG: Thanks!

@ Spartan-343: Yes, there will eventually be a helmet.

@ dozner12: As far as I know, there aren't any. Careful study of my references shows that there's an elbow pad with a small plate on it (yes, I have made one and will include it when I release the full armour pack), an ammo pouch strapped on the arm, close to the wrist, and the gloves have pads on the backs.

Now, if there is some Marine variant with hard forearm armour that I have not seen, then please grab me some screens and I will gladly make it.

I plan on making the front attachment for the pilot variant, because a few people have expressed an interest. I'd like to know, though, if anyone would be interested in the comm backpack?

The comm back pack could be sweet, and I can see applications to other costumes for it besides the Marines.

Agreed!!

I can't wait for a helmet. Judging by your modeling skills, I'd say its going to be pretty badas$$!! ;)

Oh no! I got a problem...

Here's the story: I'm having printer issues, so I can't make anymore progress on my suit. So I decided to work on some pep files. I worked on the helmet for a few hours the other night, and had it half done. Went to turn on my laptop a few days ago, and it won't boot up! It powers on ok, but the screen stays black, it makes whirrring and clicking noises every few seconds, accompanied by a small light flashing above the keyboard. I use my laptop for all my modeling and armour related work, and use the family desktop whenever I need to print.

My dad's a computer engineer, but he hasn't had time to take it apart yet. I don't even know if the hard drives are still intact. I may have a tiny problem that will take ten minutes to fix, I could have a totally wrecked system.

Short story: I don't have any of my files, my WIPs (and there's a lot you haven't heard about), my huge reference gallery, or any of the obj/3ds versions of my completed models.

Sorry to broadside you guys with this bad news, but I wanted y'all to know what happened.

Turns out the memory went bad. I'm actually glad because I got an upgrade from 512mb to 2gb. Awesome!

Anyways, today is my birthday, so like a department store, YOU get the gift: helmet pdo.

Updated first post with all available files and some pics.

Now if you don't mind, I'm gonna take a break from modeling for awhile. Enjoy!
