Halo Mmo Revealed!

I personally would give it a try. Just imagine a clan of ODST doing missions and quest. Being dropped by pelicans right to the fight. That I believe would work. As long as there is a good storyline (mindless killing is not a storyline), mini quest, a variety environments to explore and other assorted missions it would keep me entertained for hours. Unfortunately since it was canceled we will never now.

It would have to be set, either before the Halo's take place, or after. After would probably make more since, because they could develop reasons for the new armor types/weapons and would be able to make a new storyline that might be able to include some PvP combat.

It would be really cool, if they could do it right... but the way it looks now, I'm glad they stopped it.

I agree w/ Assassin. Just because it looks like every other MMO in existance isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I think it actually looked good!

Some of us just plain don't like MMO gamestyle, Halo or not, in which case it doesn't matter what the covers of the book like, we still wouldn't like it.

Well, some Halo (the rest) players are interested. otherwise they wouldn't even start the game.

I figured I'd pop my two cents in here for giggles, as I saw this a few days ago.

I work on game-stuffs myself, and to be perfectly honest, I'd be pretty embarrased even using those concepts in a proposal.
Why? Because of the WoW style on it.
Would Halo's universe make a good staging ground for an MMO? Of course. It's hugely expansive, lots of backstory and even more fighting. the problem is, Halo was built around the idea of epic confrontations, and even Halo Wars gives a sense of large-scale combat with all the crap exploding and going on. MMO RPGs(which is fairly well along the lines of what this was going to be if you note the 'special skills(spells)' bar in some of the concepts) arne't built well for epic-scale confrontations. They're made for grinding. Huge worlds, sure, but small-scale long-build grinds, and in the case of WoW, some pretty neat large-scale raids.

But that's all moot. Even figuring that 'if Halo Wars works, why not try other gameplay styles', the fact is the concepts, in their current state, pretty obviously are styled on a bank of 'Well, people like WoW, so lets run this thing as close as bloody-well possible to it and hope that some of them will play this too.'

We don't wannt World of Halocraft. We'd want a Halo MMO.

Could it be an RPG-style? Potentially, sure, though I don't think the gameplay is well suited for Halo.
When i about the idea of a Halo MMO, I thought along the lines of PlanetSide. an MMOFPS.

Oh, and the character that people were thinking was a cortana-style AI are wrong, it's apparently a 'Psionic' character, aka psychics and telekenisis or what have you. Which is the other reason I am loathe of this thing. 'We need a good way to do spell-er skills, but how!?' so they went and stuffed psychics into the concept.

At that point, when you're not even sustaining everything that Halo's backstory built it up to be, you more or less have a cheap-cash in on the WoW craze using a simplistic Halo total-conversion mod.

yeah when I saw this on kotaku it wasnt what I would want out of a Halo mmo. If they do an MMO based off of Halo it needs to be a MMOFPS

I've never heard of this before. And from what I've read... spells? Haha, thats just rediculous.

But, if done right, this could be an amazing game. Think about it. After the Human-Covenant War, perhaps more people could have become Spartans. Some would stay in the military. But whose to say some wouldnt? What if some became bounty hunters? What if some went out to new worlds, to search before regular humans? I mean, this has a lot of potential! Collecting bountys and other tasks for rewards, to upgrade and repair armor, buy new weapons and crafts and vehichles, and other things. Design your own shapes for an energy sword, the regular or a samurai. A silencer on some weapons. Ya know? Perhaps hire a squad or team to help you....

Perhaps some of the covenant would remain, some factions hostile to humans, others nuetral, and the Elites as allies. Maby you could even be an Elite! Perhaps hire a Hunter!...

I mean, it would explain using the armor variations, being released to the "public". And over-production, and shared technologies would provide UNSC and Covenant craft to the masses. I know some of you would hate that, but the POTENTIAL!

Of course, they could really screw it up, but...

POTENTIAL!!

Can I get anyone to agree?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

that would be kind of cool i guess, cause i play some MMOs but... well this one seems that it would be a bit confusing..
