No offense, but this "gaggle of idiots" has just as many "adults" in it as teens. I know you guys in college or the military like to pretend that you are incredibly mature beyond your years, but the fact is most of you aren't. What I'm trying to say is that the 20 year old kids we have here need to stop whining about teenagers. It's already been proven how much people can contribute, regardless of age.

I agree. I don't believe there should be an age limit, as ANYONE can handle this hobby with a little patience and a couple brain cells.

It's only the kids that come on here saying:

"hy guys im guna bild a mster chef armer but i cant no how 2 can u tel me how can i do it plZZZZzZZzz help lol"

that really tick me off. I'm perfectly fine with little kids being on here, as long as they show SOME intelligence. That being said however, some adults are also showing some laziness in typing. None particularly on this site, but I must say I have seen it.

Like I said, I have no idea why you assume these are little kids.

Check the age in their profiles, half of them are adults.

And there's nothing we can do about it. There are always going to be nooby people, you just have to learn to deal with it.

I'm a kid.

I do agree a age restriction could be a good thing, but not based on maturity. More because that the hobby is expensive, and potentially dangerous.

The age restriction may be a good thing, but what about those of us (like myself and MANY other minors in the 405th) who have really shown interest in the prop and costumeing department and have contributed heavilly to the 405th? I honestly don't think it would be fair to turn away new members who have a very high skill set just because of their age? Its like (just for an example) asking me to leave because I am too young. Hell, I believe I have earned my place here on the forums, same with most of the other thousands of other members here. Sure, there are the normal few people who don't respect the 405th and the rest of the costuming community like some of us, but they desirve a shot to prove they belong.

You can drop the age restriction suggestions. As I said about 2 or 3 pages back the forums will NOT be limiting by age due to the fact that the Halo series is (as crazy as it sounds) a family - oriented universe due to Halo Wars being rated T and Halo having a MegaBloks deal. Being an 18+ forums is essentially unacceptable for becoming an official costuming community. Now continue on with suggestions - as Magnum23 has stated they only have the ability to move, close and edit posts. Keep your suggestions within those bounds please.

Cheers,

Kensai

I recommend having a better look at the Noob Forum to prevent topics Like These, where more than half of the replies don't even attempt to answer the OP, or are just off topic altogether. Actually pretty common, and nothing seems to get done.

@extreme: much better thanks.

as for anyone with the signature image restrictions. well their is a few modifications that can be made by the admin only. ip board does support image restrictions. some can restrict alot. one link for instance can be used. or signatures have to be 200x600 or 300x400 anything like that. restrictions as is alow people to show their armor progress is the most common. that wont be blocked. but if you have more than 2 suits being made is it really necessary to put all of your suits up? learn simple programs or photoshop and create a sig that can show all your things in one easy to see image... but most people dont...

again i dont mind the armor progress things some of them really help know what people are doing buit more than one or two is redundant.

I've been lurking here for about six months (yes, I've only been a member for a month) and I've found a lot of good information coming from all ages and sizes of people.

That being said there is a huge amount of redundancy. I'm semiactive in a Warhammer 40K forum called Advanced Tau Tactica (www.advancedtautactica.com). Their front end is very crisp and concise with membership primers, code of conduct, and forum rules posted front and center when the forums load up. Their moderators are also very active, which helps at locking down repeat topics and OT threads.

But if I'm really going to throw in my thoughts, the best way to improve a forum is for its members to step up and act responsibly. All changes to the structure and organization of the site will only be icing on the cake.

That being said, this is a good community for a very unique hobby. Keep it going.

Personally I would like the stickies to be put under one big thread/section, just like elite forum, noob forum, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love the stickies and they are very useful, its just that I would like to see more user generated threads as this is a forum and a community of people sharing the same interests. This way the important threads are collected somewhere and organized, making it even easier to find them. Then n00b forum, elite forum, etc. dont get "plastered" with stickies to the point where the first page in each section is made of stickies. This way people are more enticed to view others' work, and to create some more user generated discussion/output (or is it input). This would create a more friendly & connected 405th website.

Also, it has been mentioned before, but a rank system would be a nice touch. Something like xbox live, except you can rate peoples w.i.p or projects to give a kind of feedback system. This could also be applied to people's overall maturity, behavior, and helpfulness. This could be used like yahoo answers or ebay. For example my profile could have a "rate" bar below it with stars. Then you could click 1-5 stars or something and this would total up in a percentage at the end of the row of stars. EXAMPLE:

405th is an amazing website, but with a few minor changes it could become better.

Thanks for the consideration,

Change the "View new Content" to "View active topics"

It's not as prominent as the "View New Content" link, but there is a "Today's active content" link just above the online members list below the forum listing on the forums main page.

Don't you think this is a little ridiculous? The signature is 5 times longer than the reply.

14 year olds who contribute quality work to the community in a mature and grammatically correct manner are more than welcome here. If you hadn't told me you were underage Xtac I would have never guessed.

It's the same gaggle of idiots that you run into when playing Halo that I can't stand to see on this site. "HALP HOW I RESIN?" "WHERE I FIND FLIE?" "GIVE ADVISE PLZ" These morons have got to go.

Close registration. Let them read before speaking or learn on their own. This is not a hobby for hand holding. I'm more than happy to share my knowledge, but the hell if I'm going to do your work for you if you can't even be bothered to do a little research and experimenting on your own.

I also think that registration should be closed for a while, I was looking at this site for 3 months before I was able to register. I looked all around the site and knew it like the back of my hand before I was able to post anything. It defiantly worked out for me.

The extremely long signatures are a little annoying too. The one above I can deal with, but the ones with huge pictures in them are the ones I don't like.

Regarding the huge signatures, you can just turn them off in the preferences somewhere. If you REALLY need to look at someone's sig, you can click on their profile. This is how I view the forums.

The stickies are user-generated.

I understand that, but I mean more WIP threads or something else that doesn't stay at the top of every forum thread list. More stuff by active members is what I meant.

Yes. I turned mine off 6 months ago or so, I hate sigs here.

For anyone else who wants to not have to look at them:

In the drop-down menu in upper right corner of the screen, click My Settings. On that page, go to the Forums tab located under Your Options, and uncheck the box for "View members' signatures when reading topics?"

Then Save Changes.
