Insuring Through Fed Ex...

This may be old news to some but if it helps one person then I accomplished my mission. This is a warning to all who buy something that is shipped and insured through Fed Ex. When I ship items I make sure the buyer has to sign for said item in order to protect me and I insure it to protect the buyer. Here is the issue, if this is how you recieve your item then you must opun the package right there in front of the Fed ex delivery person BEFORE....I say again BEFORE you sign for it. Once you sign for it you are agreeing that your package made it to you safe and secure. If you open it later and it is broke then you are out of luck, Fed Ex will not pay the insurance. If you open the box prior to signing and it is broke then you do not sign and ask the delivery guy to help fill out the claim form.

I hope this helps some people out. Let's stay protected from the fine print.

Always require a signature for delivery it narrows your window of delivery times but from experience its a hassle getting anything from a shipping company. As long as their computer says it made it to the adress you have no leg to stand on in a dispute. (Waits patiently for for the moment for the fedex truck)

At the moment I have 3 neibors that have had really expensive signature only deliveries dropped on the porch without even a knock on the door by fedex and ups. One was even in a box marked Zales (as in the diamond store) and had a pair of stupid expensive earings in it they found it the next morning when he went to check the mail.

That happens to me all the time when I order something with shipping from UPS or FedEx that I have to sign for, they'll just leave it at my door without even knocking/ringing the doorbell (when I'm obviously home, lights on and everything) or having me sign anything. Really annoys me when it's some sort of expensive item, too.
