*LOL* This thread is barely 10 days old, and already has 15 pages!!! :O

Those CNC vids were cool, but WAY too short! Almost rude teasing like that!

After helmets, that Magnum will be a piece of cake!!!

This is making drool in anticipation for my Engineering project. Our lab has 2 CNC's, and I've this site to my instructor. He's interested in doing an armor using the CNC. You guys are inspiring.

omigodomigodomigod, AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! ITS...SO AMAZING!!1!!!!

BTW, how much for one of those Smazzy MA5Bs?

Here's another Skullcandy Girl helmet. I was going to start the CNC tonight but I ran out of time. Hopefully tomorrow night.

The new model of the Magnum is much further along than these pictures. Stormy151 worked on the model tonight and will probably be able to finish it within a couple days. It's a cross between the Halo 3 Magnum and the WETA version. It's really looking good. Hopefully, he'll post some new pictures tomorrow for you guys to look at.

Did you use window tint for the visor test?

No. This was done on a clear dome. Of course, it was machined with a slot in it but it served as a test so we could discern whether a vacuum formed faceplate was feasible. The test went quite well. I think the best result for face plates will be if they are vac pulled in a thinner material and coated on the inside like the sample shown above.

The MA5 AR goes into the mold by the weekend. Pretty excited to have this thing finally completed. Should be a nice hefty weapon.

Assuming your gonna be casting it in hyperfirm as usual? I still have one of your E-11's and the thing can take one hell of a beating, tell you what!

As for the visor coating, I'd agree that it'd be safer in the long run to be coated internally, plus, I think the overall physical appearence of a clear layer over the reflective gold would make it unique

Truthfully, I guess it depends on how accurate you want to be. The two-layered version of visors is great if your helmet will accept a flat visor like that. This helmet does not since it should be a compound curve. We want these to be as close as possible, especially in the visor area since that is where everyone looks when they see you.

I think it was a few hundred to coat the samples. I imagine the final visors will be the same.

Hm. That's a bit expensive for a home user... what a pity. I found these great bubbly visors that should fit into a Mark VI and look perfect, but I have no way of getting the mirror coat onto one of these things :-(
