There's 1 layer of fiberglass cloth inside most of it, and a second layer in the jaw and up in the brow and around the opening. I did resin the jaw, but not till last so that it was flexible enough to pull it straight.
sweet I hope mine looks some thing like that

Well, after two months, I finally have some more progress to show on this helm. I've been working on it for a while, but nothing that would really be visible in photos till today.

I've gotten some mud onto the jaw and ears here,

And it's nearing completion.

I've been trying to kick this one out so that I can get rolling on the rest of my H3/Landfall suit now that the files are out. It's had to fight some other projects for time, though. I want to finish this, and some of the others are coming to a finish, too.

My bronze casting furnace is almost done......

I finished assembling the torso tonight, not sure about the size.

I have to alter the neck, and probably shorten the back. Gotta check the references again.

*EDIT*

After looking at the reference pic on the ODST armor thread, this needs to be smaller......

Bleargh.......

Ah, it's just 'cause you're short. Grow some!
Seriously, though, you can probably take it in along the length somewhere it's not too wide- just cut along the seam, overlap it, mark it, mark new tabs, cut, glue, trim edges. Seems you'll need the width anyways with that dwarven build.

Yeah, the kidney plate isn't glued to the rest of the shoulder yoke yet, so I was going to take some out of that narrow spot.

Is this when I should mention that I was called 'Gimli' in the dorms. (I made armor in my dorm room)

Looks like you sized it such that your head goes through the neck opening. The length or height of the torso piece should be set such that the bottom extends to just about below your rib cage.

For this attempt, I just used your unfolding without changing the scale. My head just barely fits through the neck, so I don't know if I could fit into the torso that I scaled to the correct height.

New pics of the modification.

I know my neck hole is a really tight fit at the current scale (which seems to be about right), I got stuck while trying to get it off a few minutes ago... it was a little scary:lol:
I'm pretty sure the screen-used suits must have had a two piece torso or some kind of adjustable neck...

Yeah, after this is glassed, I'm going to cut up the sides of the neck and add snaps or something to hold it together.

Everything is coming along well! I hope the neck shenanigans wont' be too bad XD There is a big ol' seam down the side of the collar on the Landfall ODST armor in the shorts.

Hmm, I think their web gear makes the collar look shorter than it is. But I'm still going to have to shorten it, with my lack of a neck and all. Hadn't noticed the seam in Weta's armor, but I haven't been pouring over ODST ref's for two months. Glad that everyone's liking this, and hopefully I can get that helm done this weekend, my dad wants to be able to use his shop again.

New stuff:

Started working on Belakor's unfolding of the right forearm. This is at the default scale setting and seems right.

This is another thing that'll need some modifying to wear, it'll have to open along the side so that my hand will fit through the cuff.

Looks good so far!

There is a seam that runs on most of the landfall odst parts... diagrams are on the way, I've got all seams marked out on the armor I've drafted so far. The torso has a seam that runs up the sides of the neck, with some sort of tab & hole that click together.
There's also (02) seams on the forearm pieces, one on the inside and one on the outside. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how the two halves 'click' together, but there is a buckle that holds them together.

I'll be making some sort of reference thread sometime this week, that'll have some armor drawings and the more pertinent reference pictures I was working with... should answer some of the questions I'm seeing pop up.

Thanks, guys! And Girls! ;) I was out at my parent's farm most of yesterday, and got to work on this in between projects for my mom, and it's just about ready for paint. And today I won't get pulled off of my projects to work in the garden, so this might take a big jump forward. Hopefully, I can also glass the torso and maybe even work on other projects like testing for the under armor cooler, and the ballistic vest for my H1 Marine. Those are other threads, though, and this helm is my priority for today. This WILL get to paint today, it will, it will, it will......... maybe that wish will actually come true today :p

Thanks for moving this to the Big-Boy forum NZ
