Alright I have a few problems (who doesn't)...I'm in the process of making my pepakura helmet. It's just the original Mark VI helmet. The only problem I'm having is what to do after. I have looked through the forums and I can't find what I'm looking for. I don't really understand the whole fiberglass resin process, the fiberglass cloth or the bondo thing. If anyone could give me some advice/knowledge of those techniques, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, could you please tell me some alternatives. Thanks guys.

1. Go to Walmart
2. Go to the Auto section
3. Buy Bondo brand fiberglass
4. Buy Bondo Bran fiberglass resin
5. Take your pep piece
6. lay out some news paper in your garage
7. Cover the resin cap with aluminum foil to keep it clean.
8. Fill a cap and add 12 drops hardener (it comes with resin)
9. Resin 1 side of the pep piece, let it dry
10. Resin the other side, let it dry
11. Resin the inside in 1 step, let it dry
12. Resin the outside again, dry
13. Resin other side, dry
14. get a bottle of elmers glue
15. Cut the fiberglass into small pieces with SHARP sisccors
16. Glue the fiberglass to the inside of the pep piece
17. Once dry, GLOB ON RESIN
18. Once dried, sand outside with sand block and sand paper
19. Once Smooth, paint.
20. Enjoy

Make sure you do this outside, OTHERWISE, inside you will need a respirator, resin is toxic and can harm you. But take note, Resin cannot speak, and will not threaten to stab you.

Also remember, while in the Wal-Mart, Please do purchase 20 small 1.5 to 3 inch foam brushes. Total cost will estimate from 3-5 dollars.

Also remember, if you want scratches, please purchase 1 or 2 regular paint brushes from 1 to 3 inches in width, as paint will harden the brush if not used for a long period of time.

Have a nice day.

Just a quick question, how much do you think those two materials will cost?

for a gallon of resin, your looking at around 30 bucks.

(that's alot of resin)

and a cloth is about 8

three is more than enough

You can also put the resin in party cups (the red or blue plastic ones) i put 8/10/12oz of water in first to see what 8/10/12oz of resin would fill up to. so you can pour out the water (dry out 1st or get a new one) and pour in the resin so you know you have very close to 8 to 12oz of resin. (also if it is cold outside when you resin, i added like 20-30drops for every 8 to 12oz(more harderen than it says on the package), after I placed a blow-dryer at it for like 20-30minutes, dried great!)

1.5 cans of resin will be exact.

Purchase 2 Small quarts of resin. Price ranges from 12-14 dollars.

Fiberglass cloth, buy 2 3x3 sheets, each cheet will cost 6-8 dollars.

Lowes/home depot sell elmers fiberglass cloth for 6 dollars a sheet.

Total cost of resin and glass should be 30-40 dollars.

Cost of paint may vary due to paint brand, and quantity.

us or canada? i know, the canadian dollar has gotten its strength back but just a rough estimate...i dont wanna waste 50 bucks for 3 litres of the same resin that i can get for WAY LESS!
