New to prop and costume making

Hey there everybody! I’m a long time Halo fan and I’d love to start making my own props and armor so I can attend events not looking like I don’t belong. Any tips and advice on materials are most definitely welcome!

so there will probably be stuff about pep vs foam by other people but... foam may be less tedious to do, they both give good results, and the pepakura method has the benefit of being hard armor, either way, sharp knifes are a must, scissors is okay for pep templates generally though, the more you take your time the better it comes out. also dont start with the chest or helmet, I guarantee you that the first piece you make will be worse than the last so you want more experience (even if its not much youll have a system by this point) by the time you get to centerpieces of the costume
