"'Mash! Ortega! Launch a Jet Stream Attack on that Mobile Suit!"

Greetings soldiers. Hi, I'm new to this forum, i got wind of pepakura only this year (alas, a beneficial hobby). I'm a moderately avid gundam fan, but i'm a stranger in 3d modelling softwares. I dont really have a good computer, i've been browsing the net all this time with my trusty 007-style vaio ux390 (a gift). I happen 2b a black tri-star fan (underdog, yeah), n here i have a file that may interest zeon ms fans. this is in .skp n .3ds format.

Its... a Dom. It's an old timer, yea, but the suit's retro 'aero' design captivated me, enough to fire my pepping spirit. Those who knew this suit would correctly guess what i liked about it. I stumbled upon it in Trimble, a contributor credited with name TrooperManiac released it with 'tribute' permission. So, anyone interested 2 trim-finish this until pepakura pdo stage is greatly favored. The one trim-finishing this will also be granted pepakura design owner (since i can't), so he who so took up the job is deemed chosen to spread it far n wide (if he likes it). I only want for this design 2b enjoyed n faved.

So, that's it! Just 2b on good terms, i really wish that the ensuing output design satisfy 30+cm in height (HG model), i don't really bother if some of u creative minds tinkered with the design (hopefully in a good direction), please share it to us noobies here. But please, 4 our survival's sake, don't go towards the Super-Deformed path (google it if u didnt catch my drift). N finally, some tribute is hopefully 2b given to the original design creator of the afformentioned files (if youse wish to publish this). Ok then, show them that a superior mobile suits has it's limits when matched against a superior pilot. Adieu...:D

If I remember correctly I did find this one somewhere and looked at. Does it have a picture next to it in the skp file. If it does, then the modeler used a picture of the actual plastic model kit as a reference.

Since my attempt to get ripped models from one the games is a complete failure. I'm investing in some equipment on scanning my gunpla collection. Making my own models via 3d scanning software. More on this when the funds are available.

Owhh, thanx 4 replying. Err, that sounds really hi-tech. I don't even know about that. Hmm, that's a new food 4 thought, maybe i need some proper computer classes. Err, wait a minute. Do you need it too? I mean, the picture. If you do, or someone do, here it is. It's just to prevent any issues.:)

My brother's the one who downloaded it, took a look in whatever software in his laptop, n then erased the picture. He didn't seem to do anything bout it, so i took some initiative to make it happen in some way. Bet my older bro didn't expect his underling utilizes his damn 'gift' vaio fully i guess (i think that my elder gave me this to have me get off from his laptop. to think that he teases me with the phrase 'vaio' every now n then)

N also, wow, u mentioned some 3d scanning equipment. n gunpla too. I didn't even have gunpla, not to mention equipments. It's been my dream to have one, that box with double-o gundam plus raiser system at my local supermarket seems really long n alluring, but i literally choked on my own saliva when i saw the 4-digit price tag. In short, money's not really my luxury (sorry, i'm still a NEET). So, pepakura it is 4 me then, ehehe...;)

I keep my eyes out for threads I like. For this particular model it will be in several parts since I cant get it to load in pepakura in one go.(keeps crashing on building model) If you cant wait for this I would suggest looking over gundampepakura.com. They have some gundam types from different series for paper models. The Dom is not on their list but they have some good ones.

Wow BlertZ, I've been thinking the same thing. I'm trying to get access to a a NextEngine 3D Scanner. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Hehe, i knew that site, i utilized some of the peps already. But i'm kinda in the mood for new things right now, so i want to, like, do things that is out of my comfort zone and try to absorb new knowledge. Maybe by joining the forum i can gain better understanding about 3d modelling, n more, perhaps produce something out of it. I'm already beginning some sort of digestion of this guy's tutorial, tho i don't have a laptop... yet. I'll try my best with whatever i can scourge 4 now...

So, all in all, i hope u sirs would achieve your dreams (a line scanner isn't it?), n i hope this forum can be beneficial/educational 4 me too...:D

So far, I've had mixed results using a 3D scanner. The model comes out to be somewhat crude.

Here's a couple results from scanning HG 1/144 Build Strike model:

My biggest problem is cleaning model, which have 600k + verticies. I've been researching way to reduce the poly count. I've had moderate success using meshlab, but it's a little glitchy and time consuming.

I may be better off learning 3D modeling and creating my own files.

Paper-replika is an awesome site, but the PDO files are locked and cannot be opened through Pepakura Designer. Fortunately, they provide pdf files, which can be open in Adobe Illustrator and traced to vertices. From there, it's really easy to scale the templates. I used that technique to create my Strike helmet:

I'm currently trying to complete the rest of my Strike costume using Clive Lee's tutorial, but I'm having trouble finding an inexpensive adhesive for coroplast.

How many things have you scanned so far. I'm still waiting for my equipment to come in the mail. X(

just thaught i would share this but if anyone can look it over and scale it or clean it up a little. its my first unfolding and i have made deathscythe from gundam wing. ive removed some parts that i was gonna make outside pepakura but every thing else is here if anyone could scale this to 5 foot 6-8 inches i would really appreciate this. http://https://www.dropbox.com/s/wghp06vbf1maiy2/deathscythe%20template.pdo

There is already a Gouf head unfolded. It has no open edges.

en having problems with the links, this one should work http://https://www.dropbox.com/s/wghp06vbf1maiy2/deathscythe%20template.pdo

The only problem with this model is that it is so inaccurate with the actual gundam. hence way I haven't toyed with it. At the current time there are NO complete models of any Gundam from Wing. Still working on other things to get good models produced. The only models that are good are the 00 gundams found on the Google 3D warehouse.

thats why i removed the arms and leg and abs from the model, its my first unfold and for a friend so im new to the unfolding but i tried and were gonna try to make it work

want me to go over it and remove all the open edges for you. The things that are good in the entire model is the sythe and the wings. The rest is crap to me.
