I've been searching for a while but I haven't found any person that sells odst viors. can someone point me in the right direction?

E-mail Sean at costumedork.com

He does vacuum forming of ODST parts (to include visors). I will probably be ordering a visor from him is my attempt fails.

just to be sure about this, is this piece too small? should i print the helmet bigger?

It looks to me like it could be a bit small. What was the scale you printed it at? Or, what was the height?

and as for the gloves, what do you all think of these? (if i cannot post links here, please remove this post)

Those gloves are a good start for sure. Just adding a bit will make them look quite good. I actually have the same gloves. Don't know if I am going to use them or not, but they are a good base. Sean Bradley made some seriously accurate gloves a while back.

Here's the link to have a look at: http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/18473-Accurate-Odst-Gloves

P.S. - Don't get discouraged by the helmet pep. Some parts will be a pain, but just take it slow and build in "sections" so to speak. I started at the back and then went forward. Kept it looking pretty good.

Oh, well there's your problem. I mis-scaled my first helmet too. Tester was insanely huge.

Here's a few links to help you out: http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/...r-Tutorial-V.2

Just as a reference. I think I have a pretty normal sized head, and I think I scaled mine close to 300mm. Gave me a nice sized helmet with some room for padding inside. Now don't go and assume that 300mm will be perfect for you. Check out the links to get the best sized helmet for you.

Hope this helps!

As far as scaling the helmet, I'm a very short 5'1 and I scaled my helmet at 240mm, which fits and also gives me some growing room (cause Im a teenager). My dad, who is 5'7, wanted me to build him a helmet and I scaled it at 270mm and fits him well, with room for padding too.

Scaling depends on a lot of things, your height, body build, if you have some growing to do, then how tall your parents are and other factors as well.
Like herotrooper said, go check out those links, they are VERY helpfull. (the links work for me)

How old and how tall are you?

I'm 20 and 5'9 tall but i'm a little chubby on the sides so i'd have to add extra material to the armor or rescale. Anyways, I just measured my head and it's 24 inches (don't know how much that is on mm), how much would i need to rescale?

yeah i've seen a couple of videos on youtube of people makig their own odst visors and it's like the visor is cut in half. It's not straight "l" but some sort ov ">" if you understand what i'm saying :p

Yes, it resembles more of the profile of a flat tip screw driver. There are also two levels to the visor. As for material, if you're looking to go for a less durable, yet easier to manipulate material you can go with a thinner, non-impact rated plastic. I'd also do a test run with a clear impact rated visor from the same manufacturer as my final. So that any mistakes are done on a cheaper visor before working on the final product.

Also on the scaling, I've found that using the distance tool on pepakura "2d menu - edit mode - measure distance between two points" helped me out. Luckily Kirrou's helmet worked perfect for me. (6'2'. 220, with a 7 5/8" hat size) I'd say get a cheap outside caliper from a hardware store and you can use it to measure the width of most of your body. Then find the corrisponding points on the pep file and compare until the file is scaled properly. Keeping in mind clothing and padding when doing measurements.

Ooops! Sorry about the link. Copied the wrong one :p, my bad. You have to either buy a specific ODST visor, or make one yourself using the material demo084 mentioned.

As for scaling, you can try this link :http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/25588-How-to-Scale-Your-Armour-Tutorial-V.2.
It should work for you now, and it's what I used to get my helmet correct. Try measuring and doing the math a few different times. That way you get a good average and you can work it from there. Just make sure you add a few inches in for padding (only 1 or 2 inches).

Also, just google "convert 24 inches into mm" and it should pop up. Good luck!

Hmm...that's strange. I just checked mine, and it's there. Oh, just something I caught. You said you measured you head and its 24 inches? That is 24 inches around your head, right? Don't measure that. Measure from the top of your head, to the bottom of your chin. I just blindly did mine and got 11 inches, or 280mm. Added an inch for padding, 12 inches = 305mm.

Try this way, and try and follow the tutorial.

?
just measured from the top to the chin and it measured 12 inches, which would be... 355.6? if i add the extra 2 inches, which would be 14 inches (durr)

I'll start with the tutorial tomorrow since today I've got no ink for the printer but I'll get some hopefully. Meanwhile, I also printed the Silenced SMG... would it be appropiate for me to build it meanwhile? I know and read that guns are the hardest to build but I'll take the risk

Very odd that your pep designer doesn't have the distance tool. I actually had to open mine to make sure I lead you the right way. Good luck with the weapon, I've been hesitant on doing one because of all the small folds etc. Tactonyx builds dynamic and static weapons if you feel like dropping the green for it. http://tactonyx.blogspot.com/

Who's pep file are you using, I don't recognize it? Most of mine are Kirrou's and Hugh's with a few others mixed in from the 405th's database. This is the latest database I know of.
