Pepakura on Ebay, considering buying, what do you think?

looks way overpriced to me..... try pepping something easier if youre just starting off in this hobby

I agree with matth101. Try a simple low def file to pep and then you can build your skills to make the busa helm. That's what I did I started with something really simple than tried something more challenging. It does get frustrating on but it really does get easier.

Also looking at those they are really not worth the money. Especially looking at both helms up close

the hayabusa helmet i tried to make, i spent like 15 hours total, cutting out, prepping for glueing, and messed up on one piece and raged on it, i probably will start with something easier and less stressful lol

I suppose that they have priced these based on the hours they've put in, and whatever they think people will pay. However the finish doesn't look great to me, they haven't spent a lot of time on the external Bondo work and the paint job sucks.
I wouldn't pay that for either of them personally.

Agreed.

After looking at them in great detail, there are some surface flaws that would have to be worked out - despite being 'low def' versions - these look almost like the leftover 'test size' parts just 'finished up a bit' to make some money.

Over priced doesn't even come close to that Hya helm - that is rediculous, $200 for that? Seriously?
And honestly since there is not a direct way to size these things - it's better to just make some yourself or give some measurements to someone here willing to make it for you.

$200 I can only imagine is just "it took me sooo many hours!" to do type thing.

I absolutely hate seeing cheap quality product for sale like this.

plus you won't know if they are warped or not. $200 bucks is steep since that's roughly the cost of what it takes to make ur own entire suit.

I would NOT pay that kind of money for that Hayabusa helmet. They say it has bondo? WHERE!? You can still see all the folds and everything from the paper! If that thing had bondo work done, then I shouldn't see all those folds. The paint job is not very good either. For both helmets, it looks like all they did was pep it, glass it or whatever they did to harden it then paint it real quick.

To me it just looks like someone trying to make a quick buck for cheap work. :\ Judging by the pictures, I think the hayabusa is only worth like $30 and maybe about the same for the EOD.

If you're willing to pay $200 for that, pay ME and I will make an even BETTER one using a BETTER file AND have the detail on the spikes with a much better paint job! haha

man i could make a business out of that :D

probably could do the halo helmet in like 2 hours, looks like a size tester..
also no detail work, it seems like its just resined and colored.
i dont even know what i would do with that thing :)

well thats just my personal oppinion, but i dont think you should buy that ;)

For just a bit more you could get a fully finished helmet that is actually detailed. I would stay away from that one.

Opinions have been shared, going to close this now.

Sometimes it turns out that things people see on eBay and ask about on here, were built by members on here. So the opinions that get shared on here do sometimes get seen by those builders.

Generally speaking though you don't want to spend a whole lot of money for an item that looks like it came from pepakura.
