Well folks I have been here before with this same build, Carter A259, Commander Noble Team, call sign Noble 1. My first attempt was his helmet out of foam. Failure. Second attempt was the helmet from pep/fiberglass and the armor made with the pep/foam method. Success, but I was unsatisfied.

This time folks I am constructing the armor using L3X BLU3R1V3R's foam pep high detail files, and they are coming out FANTASTIC!!!!

Special shout outs to some very talented builders who have been a great inspiration to me as I not only work on my armor build, but also build up a portfolio of costume work. I know I am not alone when I say that this is more than a hobby, it is hopefully a path to bigger and better things.

Oh wow o_O That's some clean pep work. I'm seeing a lot more of these really detailed foam builds coming out of the woodwork. Great job on this dude it'll be awesome to see it done.

question for anyone who is an expert on such things. does the chest piece look a little small on me? i know the untucked shirt is throwing the pic off, and it felt like it was the right size, but i would like a second opinion.

Awesome looking foam work. Very clean Looking for this stage. As for the size, It looks great on you. Remember you still have the stomach plate and the cod that will take up some of that dead space in the middle. :cool

Thank you sir! Glad to have a master builder such as you relieve my worries LOL.

Size looks perfect to me. BTW, this is the hotness..lol. Great build my man!

THANK YOU SIR!!! I am back to working my 7 days this week, but I am hoping to get started on the shins today. When I am off, I have been managing to get 2 pieces done per day. Looks like at this rate I'll be done for Halloween and the Halo 4 midnight release!!

Your build looks amazing. And yes, once you get the ab plate and cod done it'll fill in nicely there.:D

That looks great. I'm really starting to love the foam builds. The detail and sharpness of them really makes for an awesome look.

Holy crap, you should be promoted. If you get a shave, I think you might actually look like Carter. Excellent work! I can't wait to see more!

once its finished i plan on getting some scarring make up and a high and tight haircut

I have a question for anyone that can answer. I live in the humid cesspool of America, Lafayette LA. I don't dare put my armor pieces outside or in my car to store them for fear that the glued seams will separate. My question is, does anyone have a method of reinforcing the seams on the outside of the piece to prevent separation? I can easily put the hot glue on the inside part where it goes unseen, but the outside needs to stay smooth. The plasti dip spray will only seal the foam so that the paint won't soak into it, so that won't help that much.

What are you gluing them with? I was under the impression that hot glue gun glue wouldn't do that? Or maybe it was PVA glue...

I'm using hot glue to glue everything together. just enough to keep it together, and another heavier amount on the inside part of the seam. its the outside part that is most likely to come undone.

working on the belt and boots next. hope to have them done before I go back to work thursday. UGH

Real professional looking work there, just one question. Do you use a hot knife to cut your foam or just sharp exacto blades?

I buy the exacto blades in a pack of 20 and use a sharpener. When they have gotten dulled to the point that the sharpener doesn't help, I replace. I tried the hot knife method but moving it through the foam cools the blade and takes longer overall.

This is looking great, Plasauce! You're working super fast and clean. :)

For your sealing problem, maybe check out Hyperballistik's foam Reach build. I think he sealed his seams with some sort of acrylic caulk, but I'm not totally sure. It may be worth looking into.

that is much MUCH appreciated coming from a master builder such as yourself. You and RoxyRoo have definitely gotten me off my butt and back to building. Your method with the thin foamies for detail is what really got me going. I just wish I remembered how to sew so I could make a custom undersuit like you. I haven't sewn since home ec class my senior year of high school, back in 1998!!! Yeah I'm an old dude LOL!!!
