Okay, I know it's been awhile since I last updated, but I was on vacation and other stuff came up. But anyway, here's some updates. Exterior of helmet is done!

In this photo, I placed the visor in wrong, and it left a gap in between the helmet and visor (yeah, I was mad at myself)....

...so I filled in the gap with bondo, smoothed it out and repainted the area.

Then I colored in the side dents that I cut on the outer visor. You can fill it in with bondo, but I chose not too. Also added the outer lens for the lights.

And there you have it! Tell me what you all think.

And of coarse, me wearing it.

Started working on the inside too... it's not done yet. the fabric I'm using is headliner fabric. Got the idea from Enrisan and Sean Bradley. The fabric is not secured in yet because I want to get all the wires for the LEDs and fan in there first.

Well everyone, leave me some comments! I love to hear what you have to say. I'm starting on my new torso too, so I hope to get that up here ASAP. Thanks y'all! :)

Nice work with filling in the visor gap with bondo. You'd never know it was there based on the finished pics. Did you do this work before Ithica's video of Privateer's (or was it NewSpartanCreator's?) foam method? I'll more than likely have a gap as well, so I'm collecting all methods of fixing it and pick whichever works best for me.

I opted to fill in the temples with bondo on my helmet and make them outies vs. innies. :D If I don't like the results, I still have the option to saw them off completely and do it your way like you suggested (which looks great, btw).

@ box o crayons: Thanks! I came a LONG way since my first pep seen below... Ha!

@ oreo: Thanks Oreo! and no, I didn't see Ithica's or privateers (or NewSpartanCreator's?) foam method when I did this. I just happen to have the bondo next to me, then decided to fill it in.

as for you having the temples as outies, it'll still look good! I just prefer them going in, so that it's in-game accurate. Waiting to see more from you as well in your thread!

Haha, same here although not as far as you have gotten. Still more to go. My first is my avatar pic which is still sitting as pictured in my cubicle at work. Made with plain paper and tape, lol.

Heh! :D That's why I'm looking forward to seeing you helmet done! The more you work on peps, the better you get... we all learn from our mistakes (a lot of us anyway).

Thanks jedi! I did what you told me on the visor, but it pushed itself back on me...

and it's funny you mention it being moldable. I plan on doing that once the whole suit is complete. :)

My helmet still needs to be weathered and I need to find a way to get the visors in place. Other than that, I still need to sand my chest and add fiberglass to my shins. Still a lot to be done

Absolutely Incredible!! Too be honest it looks exactly like the video game! But I do have a couple questions or probably A LOT!! I am new to helmet making with pepakura. I am currently working on a Recon Helmet and I would like to know what materials are required to make the helmet into a plastic hardened model instead of a retarded paper thing. I know you need Bondo resin fiberglassing, Fiber Glass matt, Primer and paints, sandpaper, laquer hardening thinner, and I don't know what else. I also noticed you put some sort of putty type of substance. I would love to know what the putty brand is called and how you would use it. Or perhaps instructions lol. Like I am done with the paper helmet but where do I go from here? Add the resin on then fiber glass mat then prime or put putty after fiber glass mat.

@ griffen: Hey, thanks for the kind comments bud! :)

@ deathofblades: Thanks! and to answer your question, it looks like you've got most of the materials down already... The type of spot putty I use is Bondo brand spot putty, and Bondo brand... uh... Bondo. And you're finished with your helmet at the peping stage. Here's a link to what you can do next....

The second one doesn't have any sound, but you can see where to go from there. To make it plastic, you can mold and cast it, or just use plastic from the start instead of fiberglass. You can pm Jedistumpy for more info on that. He's great, and can answer almost every question you can think of.

@ rundown: thanks rundown! :) gotta pep your odst model soon

@ Yodajammies: Thanks! and yes, I plan on molding and casting this, as soon as I finish the entire suit.

@ TwitchFMX8811: thanks! I hope I can get it done in time for dragon con (maybe the top half, I keep getting side tracked :cautious:)

Okay, sorry for the double post but just a very small update... I've cut all the pieces out for the Torso and will start on the ab plate tomorrow.

I've got all the pieces in a big Ziplac bag, so I won't lose any (yes I know I can print some out, put I don't want to waste paper)

IMG_0268.jpg

God, cutting the torso pieces sure was BORING!

IMG_0281.jpg

Here's hoping I can get the torso done quickly. Wish me luck!

Hey man, good luck! I'm still working on my helmet, but it might be a while before I make any more headway, because I'm moving this weekend. Not looking forward to pepping that HD torso...
