it means it's only an expansion. Not a game at 60$.

The cowboy AI is Mack.

Well we don't know. it's new mombasa, it's on earth, not Harvest ;)

Thanks LS for correcting Mack's name for me, how silly of my to forget ^^

What I was getting at though is, yes, Earth and Harvest are different planets but if Harvest had 1-2 AI's that took control over the internal structures and operations of the planet... wouldn't all or most of the other human controled planets have the same set up? If that is the case then SI might be the "overlooker" of Earth? Or am I just rambling on about a fantasy world that really has nothing to do with the Halo Universe? LOL, that wouldnt surprise me...

Yeah Earth got multiples AIs.

SI is the one for New Mombasa.

I remember in the book, there was an AI for the Dock also, and for the CAM on the planet's atmosphere.

The initial hype of the video release has worn off me now, and while any new bungie game is good.. I'm starting to wonder about this one.. We are playing a non-shielded standard soldier in a story line which either we already know, or is fairly minor in the grand scheme of things.. It will probably be fun, but I can't really get too hyped as it doesn't seem as though it will have either the gameplay or the storyline that makes halo so cool. Anyway's still hyped for it, just slightly more critical then my first glance was.

TBH after the keep it clean trailer I thought it was going to be about hellspartans (assuming they are canon, they seem to have strong ties to ODST, and would of been interesting). I'm just not sure playing an ODST is going to be as rewarding as playing the chuck norris of the halo universe.

I know there are multiple AIs that run everything but they are like "employee" AIs to the "boss" AIs (Siff and Mack). So what would that make the SuperIntendant? Is he an "employee" AI or a "boss" AI?..... Why is this so confusing for me all of a sudden?

After he gets out of the HEV, you see him reach over and across the top of the receiver with his left hand and (I'd assume) pull back the charging handle on the right side of the reciever. So, I'd guess that the charging handle is in the same spot as the normal M7.
i thought that was cuz he was extending the stock. then again, i cant see if its extended when it pops outa the pod before him on the quality of the vid i have. ill just leave the handel where it is so.

*model update moved to avoid hijacking*

i was just thinking about SI, he might be just incharge of traffic and streen cleaning. thats why he cant communicate with anything more then 'keep right' and 'procede with caution'.

Halo 3 Recon: Tokyo Interview Roundup
Here are some of the articles covering Luke Smith/Brian Jarrard interviews in Tokyo:

Guardian.co.uk has a 9 and a half minute video interview with the pair - lots of tidbits, including "Mythic Map Pack is coming early next year" and "Recon is a labor of love for our fans" (and that Luke is just in Tokyo for the girls)

*IGN talked to both reps, and came away with quotes like "Recon is less of a galactic romp than Halo 3" and "When Halo 3: Recon launches, it will come bundled with two map packs that will be released as DLC beforehand. One is titled the Mythic Map Pack (coming early 2009) and another is still unnamed." They also learned that there will be no downloadable version of Recon - box only.

*Bungie told Kotaku that "Halo 3: Recon is not a tactical squad based shooter." It will come with its own new achievements totalling 1000 points. Bungie say "We're not viewing this as a full game."

*Gamesindustry.biz got more info about maps: "We actually have a Mythic map pack coming out early next year. We don't have firm details or a date yet, but we do have one more map pack coming out, and then we do have some maps associated with the actual Recon retail release." They also got Brian to agree that "Halo 3 Recon would be a 'final statement' from Bungie as far as the Halo trilogy was concerned". (Thanks, Eastbeast314.)

*Eurogamer discovered that Recon has only been in full production for a couple of months, that Bungie isn't willing to divulge all the details they have about ODSTs, and that there "might be a surprise later that we'll talk about, that might benefit people who have Halo 3, but it's not a requirement." Brian said that "The word 'stealth' terrifies us."

I'm sure there'll be more interviews popping up throughout the day - depending on when they show up, we'll either update this post, or start a new one. Update: 1UP.com's preview is the first to ask about Recon armor, and whether it'll be available to buyers of the game. Update 2: Zeouterlimits let us know that Giant Bomb has some questions and answers as well. Not a lot new, but the comments about Recon armor might give some of you pause. Update 3: Joystiq has an audio version of a group interview Brian gave (probably the same one that many other sites used for their coverage). (Louis Wu 11:39:16 UTC)

found this too:

Am I going to get the Recon armor? "You might, you might not," says Jarrard. Cagey. But he also pointed out that 1) the Recon armor wouldn't be so special if everyone got it, and 2) maybe that armor won't be such a big deal by this time next year, anyway. Hmm.

I checked the video again and the charging handle is in the same spot as the standard M7. You can see it on the right side of the weapon right under the front sight. Loess is correct, when he reaches across the top of the receiver he's extending the stock.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(BlacRoseImmortal @ Oct 10 2008, 07:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Ok just so I have it right (I cant keep up with you kids >.<).... This ODST gameplay is filling in the story after Halo 2 and before Halo 3, right?

The SI is kinda like Siff and the cowboy AI (ONI AI) that ran Harvest, right?

SI is an example of a "dumb" AI, amiright?

Sorry for the inane questions... it's still early morning for me so you guys have to put up with my stupidity for a little awhile.

Dont hate a sister :D</div>
Well technically it will start after the prophet's slipspace jump near the middle of halo 2. Where the game will end is still a mystery. Personally, I hope they add in the diorama battle. I'm sure they got a lot of upset fans when they found out that wasn't included into Halo 3. That would kick ass, just when you think the UNSC is going to lose. Bam! The Master Chief shows up and the game ends. Yeah, I'm calling it now. =P

i cant wait for the game to be released but i am not gonna join in the guessing games about wot who where why.
At the moment i am more interested when the mythic map pack is gonna be released. but like i said i cant wait.
guess im gonna have too :D

is there anyone that could make me a Gif avatar of 1:42 to 1:51 from the trailer? it starts as the camera spinning around the ODST and ends when you see the front view of him lowering his weapon. i would REALLY apreciate it if someone could.

Anyone else see the time at the bottom right? 2592... anyone want to tell me the last transmisson in cole proticol what year it was?... this happens after halo 3... almost 20 or more years from 2552 and halo 3

Could be anything. This IS in 2552, same time when Chief, Miranda and Johnson hitchhiked along Regret to Delta Halo.

*EDIT*

The numbers on the bottom right is not Time, but Camera Number.

I think playing as an ODST is a great idea. As someone stated, "Metal Gear Halo", would be a nice change of pace for me at least.

2 map packs? Nice. More achievements as well. Since they've only been working on it for a few months, no wonder we have to wait until next Fall.

Awesome! I think's its pretty cool that you get to play as an ODST for a change. However, since this game takes place before the Covenant schism doesn't that mean you would be going up against elites too? Either way this game looks epic win. ODSTS ftw. :D
