Reach Spartan+SRS99AM Rifle Build

Not much progress over the last 2 days due to delivery issues but the visor is done, needs to be reinstalled. Clearcoated the helmet, hands, and boots.
We also added new shelving and a drying rack!

Visor is very simple, OHP printable acetate for the hex pattern, then blue acetate with a mirror foil backing :)View attachment 364986View attachment 364987View attachment 364988View attachment 364989View attachment 364990
Do you have a link for the visor? I love the pattern

Just more sanding, filling and then wetsanding for the armor. Started the first fill passes on the undersuit masters.

Sniper main sections assembled for sanding

Not as much progress as I would have liked but sanded for like 6 hours...

Just the 3 big pieces and the 2 side rings for the chest left.

The rest is ready for the final sand.

Random update on my bday
Decided to do the inner thighs in rubber as well. Had to modify the files a bit for fit, as I have thicc thighs.
Printing the second one atm.
Did some sanding on the previous undersuit pieces as I wasn't fully happy with the smoothness pre wet sand.

Dreading doing the big 3 pieces as they are hard to handle.

Ran into issues with the seal rings and the 3 big pieces.... as they are very thin, I need to strengthen them so they dont keep splitting.. even with staples, glue and welding there's just not enough material to make sure everything stays in place when handling. So I'll be coating the 3 big pieces and the rings in XTC 3D. Will be a few days before that gets here. So plan is to knock down the seams and filler on the pieces so I hopefully only need to do one coat of resin.

Not too happy that sanding took alot longer than I wanted. But atleast 80 percent of the armor and undersuit masters are ready for high grit sanding.

The undersuit is definetly something im gonna be glad to never do again.... so much sanding time get the masters smooth enough for molding... but i have come to the point where minor divits, dents and marks are just part of the process... still undecided if I wanna just coat the parts in truck bed liner for some added texture..

Knees, elbows, shoulders, inner thighs are ready for paint and molding.

The 3 large pieces are driving me nuts.

I am not envious of you at all haha. Looks like heaps of work. And expensive. lol. When you say truck bed liner i get a bit spooked, that stuff is so coarse. Maybe you should try stippling a texture with acrylic paint applied with a sponge on a test piece or something. That's a bit finer texture and still hide some flaws.

Also, I hate XTC-3D. That stuff is so hard to sand. Haven't used it in years.

Yeah... still researching etc.

Due to Reach being.. Reach.. the references for the undersuit are a little harder to use to determine the texture of the suits in game

I believe datboibuilds used some truck bed liner spray on his undersuit molds. You should be able to find it on his Instagram. I know he uses it on multiple things because I got the idea to use it on armor pieces just to give it texture like you said.

Can't wait to see how everything turns out!
