Okay, So the faceplate is done and has the supports in the appropriate location, the main helmet is done as well. The ears and rear neck assembly are still being worked on. Im just going to say that i really think i went with the right choice in using dungbeetles model. Wow this thing is insanely accurate!! I hope the rest of the build comes together as accurately as this.

What do you guys think? Accurate..no?

Looking good! Hope to see some more of the suit soon though, the files look immensely detailed, and I can't wait to see them when they're done. Keep it up!

Update - okay. so the weekend is progressing slowly but surely for me. got all of the weekend off but my to do list is through the roof. However, i got some spare time to finish the helmet rear section (thank God!!) and finally finished the pepakura section of the helmet.

And like i said before, crazily accurate helm!!

I would be crazy to use a different helmet. Especially since it took me three tries, 80 pages, and two weeks to pull it off. But definitely worth it.

the helmet is the most important part of any armor. if it isnt impressive (which is obviously NOT the case here) then the whole suit is ruined (again NOT the case here). looks great little man, keep up the work.

Update - Okay. So the helmet is done. and now im moving on to the neck. Its a pretty simple design, but i plan on altering it a bit once its out from the printer and put together. Expect pictures soon.

jurgenp1 - the file originated from dungbeetle. I think he still sells them for five dollars or so. Im sure if you pm him he will help you out.

Vampyredh - thanks for the compliments but that doesnt mean that yours isnt going to be awesome.

WOW!!!

I wish you lots of luck with this, you have a very long project ahead of you.

Update - So i have some updates as promised. (Im going all the way with this build!!) Im really excited to get to see things coming together. It just motivates me that much more to get this thing done. As promised, here are the pictures for the neck. I realize there are a few alingment issues with the facemask of the helmet as well as the neck looks a little too small to mesh up with the helmet accurately (for me anyways) and ill be sizing the neck just a tad bigger in order to accomodate movement and padding inside it. The helmet issues will be fixed when i bondo and resin. Enjoy the pictures everyone, and as always, comments are appreciated.

That looks really good. Are you going to stick with a pepped/fiberglassed neck or use that to mold and make it out of something a bit more flexible so you can move your head easier? Will it fit over your head or will you have to hinge it?

I plan on using a lycra mask cut at the jaw. This will cover the neck, and the jaw, and hide everything that sticks out under the helmet. I have not yet decided whether i want to cast it in a rubber material or whether i want to stay with bondo and resin..Guess well have to wait and see. Either way, it will be functional and accurate to the actual iron man armor.
