She broke up with you on AIM? Damn, that sucks... that's just as bad as breaking up over the phone (which happened to me once, LOL).

Personally, I've never been one to go on the "rebound". I've never felt the need for it, and I guess have never felt so hurt and vulnerable that it was necessary.

Yes, I've been terribly hurt and vulnerable at times like that, but I've never resorted to trying to find temporary, false security in getting involved with someone else right away.

I mean, the way I see it is, why do that to yourself?

You know it's just an attempt to retain the same sort of intimacy and security you just lost with someone very close to you, and as you eventually realize nothing about it is real, that relationship will very quickly come to an end as well.

So, why set yourself up for possible further heartache when you don't need to?

I apologize if anyone thinks I'm being accusational here. I'm not pointing fingers or anything, that's just the way I see it...

In the long run the rebound didnt turn out so bad... if you know what i mean... haha jk. We were friends before and she had always wanted to get closer so i figured now is the time to try something/someone different in my life... but it wasnt right for me. And no accusation taken.

I enjoy valentine's day. I bring roses home to my wife, she makes a fancy dinner, and we have a quiet, pleasant evening at home.

And I'll enjoy this year's v-day more than usual, as it may possibly be the last one I have without a baby, if the wife gets her way...

yeah i think that valentines day is just a comercial day, and in very bad taste. People who have successful and happy relationships have aniversarys to celebtrate thier relationship, or in a good relationship some people just like to celebrate every now and then for the heck of it, but making a day of no real significance to force couples to be romantic (oh, today has to be special, lets make it special or we failed and we can have drama!) is so stupid, and it's also really hurtful to people who are reminded yet again that they have no one at the moment to care for.

im not single (as of about 2 days) but i forgot what month it was before getting into the relationship =/ now it feels like she expects me to get here something but i only have one day to get it and being that this is my first relationship i have no idea what to do.

i think V-day is just a day that all the card companies created to boost sales and the chocolate companies said "hey lets see if we can run with this and get more heart shaped chocolate boxes sold this month!" and the diamond ppl were like "hey look at what the chocolate guys are doing! we should try that with heart shaped pendants! and we could put adds for them on every 3 seconds on tv! yeah that sounds like a great idea!"

so now we have all those Jared commercials and kay and whatever else! bah im with everyone else on that one should not have to have a specific day to express ones love to their girlfriend/boyfriend/fiance/spouse or w/e!

heres to those who are single this year and do not have to deal with this buying of chocolates,cards,flowers, and jewelry.
have a wonderfull day after V-day with your on sale chocolates. even though i have a girlfriend i know i will!

Like all holidays, Valentine's Day is just an empty shell of its original meaning, transformed into a way for stores to boost sales.

I go to a small school, and don't have my license yet, so getting a gf is kinda hard. Last year I broke up with my gf of one and a half years (we just kinda fell apart) and just haven't really bothered to look for another one.

My English teacher (and his wife) hate Valentine's Day because its insincere, fake, and just a marketing ploy. At my school the dram club is doing a candy-gram (if you pay more there's a singing-gram, dancing-gram, and puppy-gram). So me and a few of my single buddies bought him a dancing one and a singing one (the song is "What Is Love"). He also hates dogs so we sent him two puppy-grams. What better way to make up for being alone on stupid Valentine's Day than to send mushy grams to the teacher you hate?

Holy ****! Those cards are awesome!

im in junior high, i decided to ask this one girl out. my friends made fun of me, but i stood up for it.
after a few days, she seemed sadder when she was with me.... i ask her whats wrong, she just waved her head.
after a few monthes, her friends told me that she was goin to break up with me, and i thought they were joking around.
later in 6th period, it waz true. she waz goin to break up with me.
i nearly fell down.. [really]
it was my first girlfriend and it struck me like a speeding car.
i found out that she had a crush on this fat,nerd guy that ALWAYS showd off that was in HER 1st period.
i started to get mad, but i have noticed a lot, she was WAY more happier when she was with him.
so, i left her alone for a few weeks.
then she started to become a bitch!
so i got mad at her and said, "stay the hell away from me!!!"
she was still smiling. i turned and walked away..

this might seem a too dramatic, but this is what i actually felt. TRUE STORY!!

my girlfriend of 2 months broke up with me 3 weeks ago on AIM... that was such BS! And the day she broke up with me i started going out with a girl who really likes me but i only went out with her cause i was hurt and vulerable (i think), then i broke up with her last week. The AIM thing sucked the worst though.

I agree with volkov. Valentine's Day is just another commercialistic holiday. According to the American Greeting Assciation 1 billion Valentine's Day cards are sent each year. It is simply a holiday created to make money.

Yeah i have had to deal with 16 valentines days alone. the only problem is i cant have an intresting and intelligent conversation with girls that i like that arent my friends!

I've been single for the whole 16 years of my life, and I always think of Valentine's day the one day I wish I could sterilize anyone who thinks that thats the one day of the year that you have to love someone.

I Had a shot when I was 15, that got shot down. I had no shots this year. I've just danced with a few girls at our homecoming dance. My love life is currently non-existent because all the girls want those "hot" Guys, which makes me the bottom ring. These dudes are complete scumbags, one's even a molester. I have to put up with this everyday and not know why.

I believe Valentines day is absolutely worthless, it's the holiday that makes us people feel low and lonely, it's the one holiday where the media tries to twist the meaning of romantic love. Not Friendship love. Not happy love. A twisted version where you Have to buy things, where you have to do this and that.

The way it puts those whom are single down is because it says "Buy this for your special someone" Well what if we don't have one!?! It makes us feel like utter crap inside and makes us depressed. I hate this holiday, I wish it would die.

the only good thing that can come from such holidays is the sales on all the candy the next day. otherwise its just a big ploy that can leave some ppl down in the dumps by reminding them they dont have anyone at the moment.

and as for the girls only likening hot guys, i definitely wouldn't consider myself one, and the girl i am with now doesnt seem to care at all, even i didn't think about is she hot? is that what compassion for another person has come to? how attractive they are and how you buy for them? I think not! i think we should have a international nixing of valentines day. for those who are left out and for those who do not believe that love revolves around what you get for someone.
