just wondering how are you planning to attach that?

At first i thought of black magic but then i ran out of mats for the spell that i was gonna cast so i decided on straps or buttons or something of that nature :) I think that a set of 4 bluejean style snaps would work perfectly or strap it around the abs with some webbing.

I just looked at your signature, COMIC SAAAANS!!!

Pepwork looks great! I guess you're just waiting for warm weather over there? Or what's it like in Washington?

yeah I love comic sans. And I was going to wait for the weather but then I got impatient. Its winter in WA 9 months out of the year so I built a vox and started resining the helm today. Will have pics up tomorrow

Update time!!!

It Is Official! I have used resin for the first time EVER! And my first coat is terrible...lol. Its splotchy, clumpy, and even blead through the paper in spots; but its hardened and my helmet is better for it.

Picture time!!

Not too bad for a first coat if i do say so myself!

bleeding through isn't bad at all. the more the paper soaks the better, just work it in sections (top, middle, bottom) one section at a time to prevent warping. looks good tigersgrace, Keep it up.

Luckily it didnt warp hardly any with this application. I did it in 2 sections the cheeks down, and then the top to the cheeks. and i cardboard braced the crap out of it...had 10 sections of bracing in it at one time when i was doing the top.

Your work is really tidy so far, this is looking promising :) As spartansonny said, the more the paper soaks up the resin the better, it makes life a bit easier in the bondo process too if you don't have raw paper. Just work strategically and you shouldn't have warping problems. Great to see another MKV build too, I think that might be my next project...
Keep up the good work :)

Thanks Sara. You saying that my work is tidy is a huge compliment to me, you're like the master of tidy and detail.

Well, Sara and Spartansonny beat me to it. LOL! The resin going through to the inside isn't an issue as they said. The runs that you have aren't really an issue either. Use a medium grit sandpaper and be careful to not go all the way through the resin and you can sand that down easily. You may also be able to use a razor blade or xacto knife of sorts to clean up runs in areas that you can't get sandpaper into. Good call on the extra bracing also. It definitely helps. Keep up the good work.

Thanks spartan, i'll definatly keep that in mind about being careful with the sand paper. i still have 2 more coats of resin to go so hopefully those runs are small enough to be covered in the next 2 coats

The build looks great, I do suggest a sanding block save a lot of pain in the fingers

Thanks bud, still havent been able to see the pics of yours yet. Did you get the photobucket thing figured out? I have a piece of 2x4 that i've had for, well, since i can remember. Its got just the right about of weight to it for sanding.

Like everyone else has said, the resin you put on your helmet actually looks great. Just a tip for next time, try to make you're first layer of resin pretty thin. Cause if you make the first layer thick, it could warp the pepakura. But other then that, it looks good so far. Keep it up :)

I will keep that i mind, should i thin it out with acetone?
