So do you think you're gonna go the full 48.8''? The one i've been working on i've brought it down alot. With those dimensions it just seems like it would be way too big for normal humans. But heck yeah I say go for your own design. Creativity is never frowned upon here
I'll be going with a full size bulldog (my own design. See drawing). I bought some plywood on the weekend with the intention of doing a couple of full size cutouts just so we have some decent reference here on the boards as to the M90A's full size. I'm not sure when I'll get it done but I'll do a cut out of the M90A and the M90A- Bulldog for comparison.
Before I go on I'd just like to mention something. It may seem like I'm going a little bit overboard with sizing and reference material and the like, but I think it's important to build believable props. I'm one of those guys that when I see some cool gun in a sci-fi or action movie I want to know how it works, what ammo does it take, how many rounds does it hold, and so on. And if I see something that just isn't believable, then it puts a fracture in the realism of the rest of that world for me.
Another reason I want to go to this much trouble is that I'd love for us to start to get a standard sizing to our props. How cool would it be if when large groups of us get together that all our weapons are sized the same yet made in completely different parts of the world by different people. That to me would be cool. But then I like the little details.
Also whether or not you know it every firearm ever made has a rich, interesting and sometimes bloody history of development many years in the making. Just like everything in our world.
So here's my design based on Wizard of Flight's blueprints of the M90A from Halo 3.
M90A
Caliber- 8 Gauge Magnum
Capacity- 6 Shells
Length- 48.80'' But has a removale stock.
As seen and used in Halo 3.
M90A-C (Concept)
Caliber- 8 Gauge Magnum
Capacity- 4 (+1)
Length- 42.20'' But has removable stock
The first design by Pvt. Juliet in an attempt to develop a more CQB friendly shotgun. Design abandoned as it yielded unsatisfactory results.
M90A-BD "Bulldog"
Caliber- 8 Gauge Magnum
Capacity- 4 (+1)
Length- 37.40'' Stock not removable
Still in development. The M90A-BD or Bulldog as it became termed by it's designer Pvt. Juliet, was the first success by it's designer in an attempt to develop a shotgun that packed (nearly) all the punch of the M90A but in a smaller but more practical package. It was originally under taken as an attempt to create a pump action bullpup, but this was abandoned as the pump remained creating excess length. But what was taken away from it was placing the loading port and it's inner workings further back into what in previous models had been the removable stock (see further details bellow on the removable stock of the M90 series), shortening the overall length. Due to the large size of the 8 gauge round it was considered almost a gimmick to include a removable stock as it is almost impossible to fire accurately without it and only serves the purpose of making the weapon easier to stow.
The shortened barrel is compensated for by increasing the choke,
giving the weapon a tighter grouping of it's pellets despite it's shorter barrel length. Reports are that it's accuracy and range are equal to that of the full barreled M90A. With a tighter choke unfortunately comes the side effect of increased recoil (contributing to it's nick name). But with the shorter barrel, recovery time between shots is expected to be the same as the M90A's.
With the shortened barrel comes a decreased magazine length, a necessary sacrifice for the reduced overall size. This is nearly overcome by the operator chambering the first round and then loading another giving it a total of five rounds (4+1).
The model is awaiting feed back from the 405th Infantry Division and is hoping to go into limited production later this year.
Note: Removable Stock on M90/MKII/A's

The M90 series of shotguns have another feature as well: all have a detachable stock, allowing the shotgun to be used at even closer quarters. If you look carefully at the M90 (any game), you can see that the stock is held onto the actual firearm by a "pin and button" system.
At least I figure this is what the Halopedia article is refering to. Full article here-

Sooo, thoughts?
