looking real schmick so far. foam goals to aspire to. when you say you use kwikseal, are you getting it local or internet? i haven't seen that on the shelf at bunnings. i've been messing around with sika 11fc which I've had some good success with general adhesion especially for foam soles on my boots, but the cure time is way too long for pep seams. And i can only get it big caulc tubes so it normally dries out before I can use it all
Quikseal can be found at home Depot or lowes. It's a bath and tube caulk. I use it as well, works very well!

We don't have those guys over here in Australia. And then I live in a more remote part of Aus so I normally have to order supplies online after googling names of companies in Aus that supply them. I probably should have been more specific, whether their was a company in Aus selling it or whether she was getting it from overseas.

Ahh sorry man, didn't know that. Probably could order from home Depot online or perhaps a hardware store may have it? Pretty common stuff for the most part

You might not want to use the Bath and Sink flavor......those are used to seal for water....and unless you are using oil based paints, you might find it a bit harder to paint on.....I've used it but had to sand the area and scuff it so that the paint holds, and even then had to go over those areas 2-3 times more that any other. I have switched to the painters caulk flavor. You can find it in the same area in HD or Lowes.....not sure about outside the US......Sorry.

Yeah absolutely, I agree. What little I have to use I mostly I use it under my rubber coating for minor seam filling and if I have to put it on after rubber coating, then I do another rubber coat, let cure then smooth with light sanding.

Built my chest piece live on stream the other day:

I changed the neck a little after this.

Thanks whereisdanielle for sharing your stream. I put it on while I worked on building a cardboard arwing this weekend and it was great motivation. I usually watch a movie or listen to music/podcasts while working but I could see how having an active dialogue with others could keep your mind sharper and thus benefit your work...even just watching another builder do their thing (and reading chat comments) kept me a bit more engaged and was fun (like working in a shop with others).

You're quite fearless with making your cuts and which I'm sure your prep work and previous experience feeds into this. It's cool seeing your process. See through the SPI before getting distracted by a different project please!

I'm glad my streams are engaging and helping motivate! That was kind of the whole reason I started streaming, just to prove that armoured cosplay isnt as hard as people think and also to be inclusive with my work and hopefully show how I make things.
Satchmo III The fearlessness definitely comes with confidence and practice, the SPI is my 8th or so foam armoured cosplay so I'm starting to get into my groove.

Harri51 It depends on the piece as to how much sanding I do, I just keep trying to make it all smooth throughout the whole paint prep process so between filled and stuff I'm generally finishing off sanding.

Powering on in the built I made the ab section, once again on stream.

Most likely I will be working on the thighs next.

Yeah go 6 4!! The torso came out great and j am loving the process. After seeing everyone's builds, I say the whole 405th need spi armor!

Okay update time. Be warned, this is a big one.
I havent streamed any of the build since the last update because I've been power watching true crime TV shows and just trying to relax while building for a bit.
I've now moved onto the legs.

I love the files made by Satchmo III however they dont always perfectly fit my female body, in fact most Halo files dont. So I opened blender and altered the thighs and the shins to fit my leg shape.

Moved the models to pepakura, unfolded and scaled them, and printed for a size test.

Once happy, I moved onto foam.
Here is just the thigh pieces finished;

Looking at the reference images and thinking about how i want my suit to work, I decided that the Hip plates should be attached to the thighs, and so I freehanded some hips, because since I altered the thighs the original pep hips no longer fitted.

Personally I was really happy with how these looked attached and just went about doing so with 4mm foam behind.

I then moved onto the shins, so far I've only finished one, and will be attempting to finish the other today so long as I dont get sucked into playing Anthem all day.
