Who's going to Otakon

Well I'm sorry guys, I couldn't post this anywhere else, but i just was wandering if anyone else was going to Otakon in Baltimore this year. It's something that I went to last year with some close friends, and plan on going again this year. It'd be cool to see who's going and I hope to see some of you there!

I know this thread is little old, but as I'm getting close to finishing up my suit, I'm starting to look for conventions and events to wear the suit to. I'm in the Maryland region too Kadus, but I'd never heard of Otakon, even after some research on conventions in the area. You still planning on going? I will probably be away on vacation for this years Otakon, but I wanted to start back up the discussion about it.

Could you tell us more about you experiences at Otakon last year? See anybody wearing Halo armor?

I've never been to a Con ever, and I'm still a little uneasy about attending one, mainly because I feel like they are mainly about comics, anime, and other media, etc that I don't know anything about and am not really interested in. I'm just a huge Halo fan.

Hi guys!
I wont be going to Otakon, but that's because at that time I'll be moving from my current location on the east coast of Canada to Ottawa, Ontario. That's about a 10 hour drive north of where you are Spitfire. I've been searching for upcoming cons that would be about a 4 - 5 hour drive from where I will be.

Some candidates:
Can-Con 2011 - Ottawa, Ontario - 9/11 Sep.
FanExpo (Canada's larget con) - Toronto, Ontario - 25/28 Aug
Con*Cept - Montreal, Quebec - 14/16 Oct
SFContario 2 - Toronto, Ontario - 18/20 Nov
Albacon - Albany, New York - 21/23 Oct

Hopefully we can meet up at one or more of these!

Otakon is the main convention I have been going to for the past 5 years. Plenty of things to do there, panels, videos, games, video games, and meeting guests. Almost every year I have gone there was a halo costume, I wore mine last year and people loved it. I should be there this year in my (hopefully finished) Emile costume, while a friend of mine wears my costume from last year.

Sounds like a fun time, especially to wear a Halo suit to!

Howaado, have you entered the costume contests at all? How's the rest of the competition?

I'm pretty disappointed that I wont be here when Otakon is held. I would have loved to go. Thankfully, there's till the Baltimore Comic Con, which seems to be one of the biggest Cons in the area. I will definitely be going to that!

I have not in the past, but was thinking about it for this year. There have been some good suits each year, and the usual rubies suit(s).

Glad to see some of you plan on going to Otakon sometime! The con is mostly centered on Anime, but there's plenty of video game thrown in there with it. I got asked for plenty of pictures going in just a business suit with my recon helmet on, so It's a great place to wear your armor. In the past there's been quite a bit of halo costumers there too, and in 2009 there were two pink spartans in very nice looking armor. Anyhow, I hope you can go next year Spitfire. It's a blast. Might enter the costume competition, but probably not this year. @ Howaado, it'd be great to meet up and hang out, I didn't see your blue busa last year, but hopefully we'll run into each other this year.
