What's up! Brand new to all this but have always loved the Halo series. Particularly Reach so I decided to recreate my in game Spartan III. I went for an heavily weathered ODST Mjolnir, as if my Spartan had survived the fall of Reach.

3d Printed files from NerdForge Armory. All done with Tamiya paints. Chrome base coat. Dark iron. White, and Green accents. Tell me what ya think!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Tell me how you did that visor!
Printed in PLA? What printer? How many pieces? What does your spartan look like?

Thank you very much!

The visor was vacuum formed. Got a a small kit off Etsy. Some 0.6mm sheets of petg. Dyed it green with idye poly and sprayed the inside with a couple thin layers of mirror coat.

Helmet is printed in PETG for the slightly higher heat resistance and durability. It was printed on a modified CR10S in two pieces and that was only because I had a power failure about 3/4 of the way through.

Very nice work! I do my visors the same way, but I use 0.03" petg. I think I had an issue with anything thicker because it would bubble up. Hope your visibility is ok through that thing! I've seen spray chrome come in an aerosol or just in a container for airbrushing. Which did you use? And also did you happen to use chrome made by a brand called spaz stix? (this is the common american amazon brand, and I assume you're american because you have access to idye poly, which is only sold in the USA as far as i've seen.) I only wonder because sometimes I do things the same way for a long time, and then someone comes along with a better or cheaper way to do stuff and I don't hear about it. XD

I usually get my sheets of petg off ebay. It's alright but I can never consistently find the same product from the same supplier. What's your petg source?

I've had many prints fail because of power outages. Ugh it's the WORST! I thought the CR-10S has print recovery?

Again, fantastic work dude! Not everyone goes through the trouble of making a vacuum formed visor, and I know it can really be tricky. Kudos to you!

Oh I Definitely had bubbling issues. Took until about the 4th pull before I got a good one. Lowered the temp and just heated it longer and slow. Will have to try the thinner sheets!

I am American and all my paint was Tamiya acrylic model paint I thinned and put in an airbrush. The exceptions were the primer (rustoleum 2in1) and the mirror chrome (Krylon looking glass). Visibility out of the visor is ok. Clear enough to see most things, with only a little loss of detail unless up close.

Had the same issue with the Petg sheets. Have ordered from ebay and etsy but no regular suppliers unfortunately. And lastly the CR10S DOES have power recovery but only when printing off an SD card, as I use octoprint it didn't help. Any other questions I'll be happy to answer!

ah, I did not know octoprint did not support that feature. I wouldn't have noticed, because I have the base CR-10. You seem to have a pretty good idea of what you're doing, it seems like you've done this before! I'll be following this thread as the build progresses. I wish you luck. Especially with all that sanding you have ahead of you.

Also, have you stopped by the "Introduce Yourself" thread? It might give other members a chance to know a little more about you!
