Daaaamn, I don't know if that's an effect from your miror, but this thing looks huge ahah! And how come we have yet to see a picture of you with your ODST helmet :O ?

Upon your request...

Still working on another visor, I just finished building another one, I'm gonna try and spray it tonight.

Sweet! Looking great (and not too big at all, nevermind what I said before). Also, I can see now how MY helmet looks narrow-ish compared to yours: yours is much closer to the overall "shape" of the ODST characters... (Although I'm still unsure why mine ended up like it does).

Yeah, I did notice that yours is kinda skinny, even though that's the general shape of the ODST helmet. I really do recommend Kirrou's files over Hugh's. Although, everyone uses some of Hugh's because he actually finished all of his. It's too bad Kirrou didn't stick around. Whatever, but really! Kirrou's helmet just seems much more game accurate to me, plus you don't have to deal with having to clip the pieces together.

If I ever get around to making a new helmet for my ODST, I'll make sure to try my hand at kirrou's model ;-)

Here's what I have for you guys today!

I finished a second visor, and you can see through it much better than the other one! I also installed it into my helmet this morning, so the helmet is practically finished!

I'm almost done with the comm attachments, just need to be painted a bit.

The helmet is almost finished! I just need to put in a fan, maybe lights, and throw in some padding and it'll be done!

No replies? Whatever, UPDATE!

I've decided against implementing the comm attachment mainly because it doesn't sit right where it should. You can see in the picture that if you try to put it there, it can't sit right because of that ridge on the ear section of the helmet. This can be avoided, but I'd have to have kept it in mind while I was pepping the helmet. If I ever redo the helm, I am most definitely putting this on it, mainly because I have the parts finished, and nothing to do with them. Maybe I can smack em onto another helmet...

I've gotten all of the electronics, I just need to solder them together, and then I can throw them in the helmet!

I've also cut out all of the padding for the helmet. I've test fitted it, and it fits nicely!

Lastly, I think that I can actually save the chest core, if I just cut a little more of off the sides. It would have been nice to figure this out BEFORE I cut out all of the pieces for another core :angry

The helmet is now at 99%. I'm so excited to finally finish it!

Okay, so I guess this is turning into a triple post, then.

The chest core works perfectly! And so does my flight suit :)

Once again, forgive my mane if it is in the way.

So, yeah. I just gotta put that bottom-back piece in and then the spinal cord, and then I can start painting this bad boy! I'll keep you posted!

You definitely saved the chest core, IMHO, good job on that! Also, it looks very good with the flight suit on, can't wait 'til I get mine! (Ordered a very similar one from the same seller as yours)

I'm curious about the electronics, too. would've loved to put some in my helmet, but I'm afraid I made it a tad too small for that (Heck, there's barely any padding inside). So yeah, can't wait to see the next update!

(Btw, I don't always reply to your thread, but I do read every new post to get my daily dose of awesomeness)

GREAT work man, love the helmet. I think I'm going with you and Z on the jump suit idea. If I may, I have been using a number three cutting sheild for my visor you get crystal clear and still dark enough people cant see in. You can get one at any local welding shop for less than $20. They cut easily with scissor or razor knife and can be bent into shape easily.

Okay. The detail in your painting is absolutely amazing. I gotta know what you did.

On a less happier note, the visor looks better, but it's WAY too blurred. I could barely tell what I was looking at. I don't really know how to fix that, but I would try asking around to find someone who can.

have you tried going to walmart and buying the do it yourself window tint in the auto department? i did that with my visor using the 2.7%VLT and its black with a mirror finish....just and idea

One, have you ever seen a gold/orange tint? It would be convienient, but I never seen one before.
Two, that still doesnt quite sove the fact that you cant even SEE out of his current visor.

Thanks, I'm sure you'll like your suit as much as I do! The electronics are very simple, just a 9v hooked up to a fan with a switch. No soldering was required!

Trust me, the flight suit is great! I never really thought about a welding shield, I've seen people use them, I might give it a try some day!

Thanks for the high praise! The picture is kinda deceiving, you can actually see out of it much better than that, I guess it's just the camera focusing on the visor instead of the stuff past the visor. It actually works really nice, trust me!

I don't think that I have seen gold tint, but you can refer to this crazy awesome tutorial to get a perfect gold colour. Again, you really can see out of it nicely! VHT Nightshades WILL be a bit blurry, but you can see perfectly fine! I would recommend the method, but now I'm tempted to try out the welding shield...

EDIT: Small update, got the back detail piece and spine built, now I can start sealing and painting!

That's all for now! Stay tuned...

So, I got the chest core done, but I think that the chest plate is much too small for it. I did scale it down prior to printing it, because I was scaling it to my size, not the chest core.

It also looks pretty small compared to the assets. You can notice that the stomach plate doesn't fit into the chest plate as it should.

This picture is what I'm shooting for, except instead of the Hugh chest, I'm doing the Kirrou chest. I won't settle for Hugh's, because I'm going for game accurate, and that's exactly what Kirrou's is.

Tell me what you guys think!

FINALLY! I thought the forums would never get fixed! Glad to be back, everyone, as I'm sure you all are as well!

So... I haven't gotten nearly as much done as I would have liked to now that school has started back up, but I've by no means abandoned this project, oh no, this is getting DONE!

So here's a new chest plate that I painstakingly re-did, just a bit bigger. I need to spray my device tag on and then weather a little and it'll be done, but it takes me like half an hour to cut out one stencil! That's what Liquid Tension Experiment is for.

Here's some pics of me with everything that is currently wearable on. As you can see, I put the belt together, which was pretty simple. Sorry for the bad lighting, I'll get better pics up once I finish the chest plate and get all of the assets on the core.

The back looks the best because it's actually done!

I want to finish the entire upper body for my school costume day, which is the first week of October. Coming up fast, I know! After that is Halloween and then HALO 4!! Chances are I won't have the whole thing done by the time the premier comes, but I know that I can at least get the upper body done, I'll be happy with that.

Here's what I ask of you guys: what the #%$@ am I gonna do for the forearms? I'm rather clueless as to what I should do for those. I wanna stick with Kirrou's file as a reference, and I've only ever seen Rosh do that out of foam. I'm gonna be looking at his a lot for more refernece, but I'm really looking towards whoever on here can help me out.

PS, is anyone really annoyed how you can't go back to "Dark 405th?"

Lots of stuff I got done today! Enjoy...

First off, finished painting the chest plate today, but that's not the half of it...

But then I got the assets onto the core and now the suit looks perfect for my school costume day coming up on the 4th. I love it! Tell me what you think!

So, I'd be fine wearing it like this to even the Halo 4 premiere, but it's not done, some I'm not happy... yet.

Next pieces I'm doing are the forearms, this should be fun considering I've no idea what I shall do to make them. If you have any suggestions, that'd be great!

Looking at these pictures, I notice that I need to get some black boots. Considering I don't have any, I guess I'll be out to buy some soon. Till next time...

That is turning out well. I like weathering on the suit and the fact that it's black not a lighter grey or silverish. Keep it up!
