In your opinion, which Halo has the most distinct weapons and artstyle?

Hot take here, I don't think Halo: Reach has the most unique weapons there are in-universe. Story? Absolutely Halo: Reach wins, hands down, but for pure weapon style I would have to go for Halo 2. Something about the weapons in that game are just unique, especially the energy sword!

What do you think?

I agree totally with Jev , and in my opinion beginning on a positive note, we can all agree that one does not simply discuss Halo weaponry without gushing over the iconic Energy Sword.

This plasma-bladed instrument of death is less a weapon, more a conductor’s baton orchestrating a symphony of alien slaughter. Able to skewer foes faster than an overly enthusiastic barbecue chef, the Energy Sword slices and dices its way into our hearts every single time. Every bladed duel ends in an eruption of energy that just screams beautiful, blue, alien disco.

Glorious!

Equally awe-inspiring is the Binary Rifle, or as I like to call it, the Quantum Kabob Stick. One squeeze of the trigger sends out a twin bolt of pure destruction that vaporizes anything unfortunate enough to stand in its way. In short, the Binary Rifle doesn't just make your problems disappear, it sends them straight into molecular oblivion.

However, we must acknowledge that not all armaments can be shooting stars. For every bright flash of ingenuity, there's the regrettable wet noodle, reminding us that it’s hard to balance devastating power and raw impracticality.

The Guilty Spark Laser takes this crown with aplomb. Yes, it packs a wallop on the first hit, but thereafter, the meek zap leaves you in a severe cooldown and energy-suck. Fighting an army of alien beasts with this? Good luck, friend, you're essentially giving your enemies an advanced tickling with it.

Likewise, the Needler - A.K.A Pincushion Creator, garners an uncomfortable place on this list. Surely, this bizarre tool was crafted during a nightmare where RuPaul's Drag Race and armament specialists cross-pollinated. Shooting bright pink crystals that somehow track enemies may sound charmingly eccentric on paper, but the slow-moving shards often miss the mark and explode into futility. Coupled with the ridiculous aesthetics and limited range, this purple people prickler scores high on novelty but falls flat on execution.

It’s comforting, and perhaps terrifying, to see that there’s a variety of weapon choice in the Halo universe. Some, like the Energy Sword and the Binary Rifle, spark the imagination and prompt dreams of otherworldly destruction. Others, like the Guilty Spark Laser and Needler, make us feel like cosmic pranksters stuck in an interstellar game of Russian Roulette. However, the laugh’s on them - any Spartan knows that you bring a bigger bang to a laser swordfight! Now go forth, and remember - aim for the stars, but if all else fails, resort to a good old fashioned plasma grenade toss. They never expect the grenade.

Much Love,
BaronArden

Ah a fellow energy sword enjoyer!
Something about the blade shape is just so intriguingly alien, isn’t it?

I would however have to disagree with you on the binary rifle, I find that most Prometheus weapons are just slightly off, whether it’s the floating sights or the ammunition. It doesn’t feel quite as satisfying as a carbine or a BR in my opinion.

The needler is one thing that I can wholeheartedly agree with you on though, it’s such a cleverly designed weapon lore-wise. Especially in that if you give your weakest unit (grunts, drones) a weapon that can actively track the hostiles, it really gives them a much needed leg up.

The guilty spark laser might have been nerfed for gameplay purposes as we can assume that the forerunners wouldn’t have left such an important unit relatively defenceless (it didn’t even kill Johnson immediately in 1 shot (albeit it he is a project Orion subject but aside from that).

Very interesting take man!

That’s an interesting question. Halo is a popular video game franchise that has been praised for its unique and iconic art style and weapons. In my opinion, the most distinct weapons and art style in the Halo series are from Halo 3. Here are some of the reasons why I think so:

These are some of the reasons why I think Halo 3 has the most distinct weapons and art style in the Halo series. Of course, this is just my opinion, and you may have a different one.

Personally, I think I would have to go with Combat Evolved. That is the most Halo game to ever Halo, in my opinion. Also, all of the guns are fun and feel powerful, which makes it a blast (pun intended) to play. It's a shame that the remake for the game took away a lot of the mysterious and almost creepy feeling of the ring, since I think that's what makes the original look and feel so great.

Wanna hear an even hotter take? I don´t like Reach at all :). I do agree Reach´s weapons aren´t the most creatives (I would go for CE, it was a game changer, and although you had your basic stuff like Rifle, Shotgun...the Covenant weapons are what really dragged me into it, as it´s something that you don´t see every day.

Story: I prefer 2´s tbh, it was able to give us a new POV on the Halo universe, with tons of lore and a fascinating development of the Arbiter´s story. Weapon styles: I would go with H5 (not my cup of tea, but...), it introduced a lot of weapon variety with every variant of each weapon feeling different, wether it be more powerful, quicker; or both.

Extra: I ADORE Infinite´s art style, no doubts my favorite Halo in that department.

I'm actually replaying CE for the first time in like 2 years! It was my first actual fps game, my dad got it for me when I was like 11-12 so I've got a connection to it! Won't lie, stepping out onto the ring brought back memories man. Playing split sceen Halo 2 Slayer on blood gulch with my friends is probably my 2nd favourite Halo related memory!

And I thought my take was hot!

I felt like Halo 5's weapons were a bit too modern day/practical (the UNSC ones of course), like the H5 SMG. I could image modern day SWAT using that pretty easily. A bit too realistic in comparison to the other games for me but some people loved it, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose!

Ok now I 100% agree with infinite's artstyle being great. It really feels like a continuation of the old artstyle with a bit of new variety added.

I´ve not been the biggest fan of old 343´s UNSC aesthetic, I´ll admit that. However my praise comes from the promethean and covenant weapons, they feel alien, ancient, unique, powerful, and like each one feels different from one another; the weapon variants in H5 are something I wish return to the next Halo

I’d agree with a fair few of the covenant weapons but I just didn’t get a buzz out of the Promethean weapons. They just felt a bit wrong in my opinion. A small bit of customisation might be cool (purely cosmetic, so as to avoid meta builds) to implement though.

I gotta go 4 and 5. I quite like the look of the BR85HB and am legitimately upset the SAW didn't make it into infinite. Same with the Lightrifle on the forerunner side. Reach definitely has better stuff overall, but those three I wish had made it to Infinite

For me, I am struggling to decide between halo 2 and halo reach as they both have really good art styles and character designs, but for weapons I would probably say halo 2!

For example, nothing says halo 2 quite like the beam rifle, the covenant carbine, the beautiful energy sword, and the battle rifle. Something about those to me just... I dunno! I really like those weapons a lot. From reach, I really like the needle rifle a lot. Definitely a go-to weapon imo.

With reach and its art style, it introduced the skirmishers for the first time, and I love 'em! The armour and looks of the elites, the looks of the jackals, and the armour of the grunts are all pretty cool too. The only thing I'm not too keen on is the design of the brutes - halo 2 did that waaaay better in my opinion. :)

I will say though, halo 3 has got some amazing looks to the game still to this day. Of course, there are some things that haven't aged well (*cough* lord hood *cough*), but the lighting, weapon design, sounds, and overall feel is really good!

I love the classic battle rifle in Reach but to put love in the newest installment, I'm a BIG fan of the S7 and the Gravity Hammer. They're both sleek and brutal.
The new S7 is probably one of my favourites in Infinite, that and a few other semi-auto UNSC rifles, the looks and the usability in game is great!
