Jester 1014: Combo Pep Build

AHA! Update time. Had a few mishaps with this design of the toe. But I Got it.

Had to cut out certain spots of the foam on the inside in orderf or it to fold and form properly. And I had to place some reinforcing for the toe's "Spikes", they kept trying to fold inward and distort the toe. Quite honestly I got a better reaction out of the foam than I thought. And the darker spot you see are where I used my hotknife to take out some of the pressure for the folds. Hit it with a Med Grit Sanding block and I got this wobderful lil marvel. Not to sound gloatish but I'm certainly proud of myself on this.

i really need to get me some money to start my build, yours is making me more eager to start with every update! And this may sound a bit femine and its gona be the only time i say it, but i love your shoes! (aka boots) XD no offenese to women, i have but the utmost respect for them. ;)

Why thank you, I was just wondering if they'd match my Rifle or not!
And I was just about to ask if my shins made my thighs look fat! XD
hehehehehe. Ok enough of that.

So far my total build cost is $45 and that's over these past few weeks.

i think i remember seeing at Sam's, a realy big store thats like a warehouse and you buy things in bundels, not sure if you have them up north, these foam matts for the garage, massive ones, but i don't remember how much they cost or if the still sell them, gotta check this weekend.

Yea we have Sam's here too. The mats I get are about 2 foot by 2 foot sizes and a half inch thick. Harbor Freight is a good place to find them too. 4 pieces a pack and about 8 bucks a pack. A sheet and a half can produce enough parts to make L3X BLU3RIV3R's MK V HD CHEST. Which is what I've set aside.
A hot knife is definitley the way to go for cuttin. About 10 bucks at most hobby stores. Cuts throught the foam like butter, Wear a mask though, the fumes ARE TOXIC! Just those things plus some super glue is about 20$ to start.

Note: I'm using pep parts for templates with a little bit of my own flare added.

Edit: Here's a Finished Boot toe. Got the second one cut out.

It's a Combo suit, with different styles added. I've got everything ready and sitting to the side for my Gundam Head. The suit is a MK V spartan. And I'm trying to find an actual PEP file for the Aliens M41A Pulse Rifle. It's my own Cosplay build. But my Spartan HAs an ODST Helm, MK V Body, and various spartan gear.

Ok Necro Double Post:

Ok, I got my Photobucket back up and running. So new pics will be tonight.

I've made two videos, and completed My Boots and Shins. And started on my Thighs.

Edit:
This Photo Is My Costume and Color I'm going with.

Been a little busy lately with finals. Haven't worked on my armor in a few days. Hope to get more done soon.

Just read through the entire thread... Awesome! These pieces are looking awesome!
Wish I had some foam like that to work with. I use pepakura and expanding foam insulation. I have an extremely low budget :D

Wow! Simply Wow! Excellent work so far.

I'll be watching this tread with giddyness as I am in the planing stages for my Noble 6 foam suit.

Lots of good pics taken. Makes it easier to learn from.

Thanks Jester! Keep posting your pics.

Cheers!

Thanks guys,
Encouragement is key in a build like this. My 10 month old and schooling, oh and my wife wanting me to spend time with her kinda get in the way now. (Time with my wife means sitting on the couch watchin her play Epic mickey.... Not my idea of fun)
Most of my building is done Late at night. I should have some more progress tonight.
