Music While You Game

After checking out Odessa's cool thread on the kind on music folks like to listen to, I got a little curious as to what people play while they game. I know for me, the general selection is a bit different than if I was just hanging out or working. I usually only crank up music on multiplayer games and especially COD4 and Halo. It tends to be a mix of cool and goofy.

A few songs that get a lot of replay when me and some friends game together are:

Queen: Another One Bites the Dust
Weird Al: Trigger Happy, (Jurassic Park when we play a lot of Elites in SWAT)
AC/DC: Hell's Bells, Back in Black, Dirty Deeds
Kinky Friedman: Ballad of Charles Whitman
Jonathan Coultan: Chiron Beta Prime, Skullcrusher Mountain, (Re: Your Brains in Zombie matches)
Red: Wasting time
Dropkick Murphys: Famous For Nothing
Drinking Songs: Bugger Off
Stroke 9: Kick Some Ass

And a lot of others but those are off the top of my head. So what about you guys? Do you listen to music while you play? If you do for what kind of games?

Lol, Halo and Metal/Rock just kinda fall together for me.

Seems that I'm more like Sgt. Johnson than I thought.

Anyways, a recent favorite of mine is Indestructible, by Disturbed... the song, but most of the album too. The song just fits the mood of pwning 12-year-olds over Live... you should listen to it.

I listen to club music (www.djslink.com being my favorite) and fight to the beats. Other than that I tend to stick to the ingame music and sound effects. You loose a lot of audio clues with music (the sound of sticks, a plasma pistol charged around the corner, etc. So if it's serious time.. I cut it off.

Cheers,
Kensai

I don't like listening to anything while playing FPS games (especially since I think Halo has awesome music already), so I only ever listen to something while playing Civilization 3/4 and Diablo 2 LOD.
I tried listening to music while playing Halo and despite the fact that it does me little good, I found that a band called Pain works best for me, it gets me...aggressive and trigger-happy :D
I definitely don't like listening to anything while playing UT. The screams in the game are way too satisfying to miss.

While playing Civ 3/4 and LOD, I find myself listening to The Kovenant mostly. I don't know why. But I remember (a few years ago) playing LOD hours on end and having Kovenant albums on repeat as I do so, so I came to identify LOD with Kovenant. Then again, these 3 games go well with pretty much any music. That said, Civ games have an amazing array of classical pieces already so I just tend to listen to the in-game music most of the time.

P.S.: @RedTogusa - glad you like my thread

I rarely ever listen to music. I get too into the music and I kind of forget about the game. Next thing I know there's a deathclaw on top of me that came from behind. :p

 Yep, I mean Sigma! I was just replying to Red in my own thread when I switched to this one.
Sorry, Sigma! It wasn't on purpose.

there is nothing like getting in a warthog and tearing ass all around blood gulch while surfin bird is blasting. and when proxy voice is enabled it just makes the kills that much more rewarding.

too bad we havent seen a gulch for H3 yet.

currently its:
Paralyzer from finger eleven
fueled by adrenaline and pedal to the metal by Kazzer (no its not Metal as in the genre, it is the metal of youre car)
and No connection from the last revolution

oh and i only play like fps games: COD4 (mac VS pc), battlefield 2142, jedi knight 2 outcast, lander (an old game from psychnosis)

and thats about it

Anything mega hardcore, or good
Metallica, Abigail Williams, good thrashy fighting songs that pump me up basically, they work out too, they make me all shaky, and I start owning peeps like nothing.

This song came up while I was staring at a hornet through a bubble shield...

"Do you really want to hurt me.. Do you really want to make me cry?"

:)

i always pwn by like 10 kill lead in snow bound when listening to indestructible-disturbed,and for any other map mostly listen to master of puppets, for whom the bell tolls or of course fight fire with fire-metallica

METAL FTW!!!!!!

LMAO, very good.
On topic: Yeah I don't like to listen to music whilst playing team slayer or the like, it does nothing for my game.
When I play games like Burn Out ect, well read Odessa's other thread to get an idea of what I listen to.

That wasn't the first time I mixed Red with Sigma, I should really start paying more attention so I don't embarrass myself again

As I said, I don't like music while playing Halo...but I do hum to myself a lot when playing. In rhythm of my killings and such. And throw in a manic laughter here and there...I should try recording myself while playing, I think it would sell well as a black metal album, all angry and violent  I'm an aggressive gamer when it comes to FPS.

I listen to pretty much everything, though I find 'Take a Bow', 'Dare', 'How it Ends', and 'The Imperial March' most effective in killing people :p

But my favorite bands when killing should be...

-Nine Inch Nails
-Red Hot Chile Peppers
-System of a Down
-Beethoven
-The Doors
-Black Sabbath
-Queen (Especially 'Dont stop me now' :p)

I haven't really listened to music while playing.
Except when I was play Half Life 2 Ravenholm. That level was to scary for to me to not play music haha. I played Spy Break from The Matrix, it made everything scary to freckin epicness haha.
