Hahaa those needles are awesome! just one thing, they look a little too curvy for the kind of sharp pointy bits effect that needler weapons have... but hey, artist's interpretation.

maybe you should cast the needles out of clear resin or sth.
they would probably look clearer, have sharper edges and you might also already color them a little

At work now (block fb) so I'll have to look at your pictures later.

I worked on a needler project for a little while and have a good idea how awesome pink leds can be. Only complaint was running them as bright as I wanted hurt the battery life a bunch. Curious how you are doing with your radioshack pink leds.

More updates!

I painted the bottom section that I had covered with flashing. The paint-job...well, it could have gone better. But I think it looks fairly decent. The overhead shots show all the pieces so far, and then a rough "sneak-peek" of what the finished piece should look like.

Thanks guys! After this, I'm thinking about making a custom Mark IV suit with a recon helmet. You know, as an accessory to the Needle Rifle. :p We'll see how much time I have after I finish this project. I'll be starting college in a little over a month, and I'm also working on a science fiction "project" (I originally wanted to write a novel, but it's kind of...exploded into a worldbuilding project. But I'm still going to write a novel), so I'll be pretty busy. Then, of course, Reach is coming out soon, so I'll also be playing that on top of the other things.... :p

You should make needles by this method.
Step 1: Make a prototype Needle.
Step 2: Make a mold of the needle.
Step 3: With a disposable pie pan, heat some hot glue stick on a stove.
Step 4: Add some sort of coloring.
Step 5: Pour the melted hot glue stick into mold, wait for it to dry and BAMM!!!
You have a needle.

Hope this helps.

thats some amazing work. it looks scarily accurate to the game! are you going to light up the needles? that would look amazing.
