Has anyone ever tried to make their undersuit a part of the actual armor? E.g. have fabric and such glued to the inside of pieces. It'd be really cool if I could just wear my normal clothes, and be able to put the suit on overtop and be fully armored (ignoring heat concerns). This would leave it all as a self contained unit. What kinds of issues arrose with this method?
It'd also look amazing on a mannequin, as it'd look like the full suit.

Probably could do that, but I get the feeling it would be more complicated to get it onto your body, and probably more time consuming to suit up in.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!
I've been relatively absent for a week, and I promise it's been for a good reason. I have a progress update that I am very excited to share with you (and very exhausted). My last update was 7 days ago on Monday, and for those who've forgotten, this is what I had completed:

Here is the progress I've made since then, I hope you like it.

* Fingers crossed *
Really hope I still stand a shot at Tier 3, but I'll be darned if I don't have the determination of an anime protagonist.

It should go without saying at this point, but literally none of this would be possible without all the help from ExCeLLuR8. Thank you so much!

This is looking so good man and you have been working so hard! I really appreciate the shout out, I've really enjoyed helping you with this build in the background but at the end of the day you're the one cutting and gluing the foam! Keep it up man and I'm here to help you reach your goals. I definitely think a Noble 6 is in my near future!

I'm bored at work, waiting for my script to run so I figured I'd create this thread. I'm going to be building a Halo: Reach suit, likely using the CQB helmet and other random components that I think look cool, cause that's how I customize my character in game. Yes, I currently have 2 other builds going on right now, but I'll likely 'start' this one this weekend as a means of taking a break from trying to paint the same thing over and over. I will be doing my best to emulate the build process of ExCeLLuR8, as he has what I'd call the best suit around and I know I can achieve something similar if I put my mind to it.

I have some experimental ideas about adding energy shields, but I'm not sure those will be flushed out in time for this suit, so it may have to wait for a future build (CEA maybe?)

This weekend I plan on starting the hand plates and we'll see how well that goes when the time comes. I'm scrapping basically my whole process that I used to make my previous suit, in favor of an entirely different building philosophy.

Don't get sentimental about a specific prop, focus on improving the process - Excelur8, 2019

My first build will be a C.Q.B. helmet as well, though its the Halo 3 variate.

Brutally honest truth? The round detail on your thigh Is cut a little bit wonky, and the straight detail leading to it is too. Only because you're aiming for T3 do I bring this up. Did you cut with a ruler?

Otherwise:
Dang son! That's a lot of work to crank out in a week. I would know! My Reach suit thighs took a week just themselves it felt like! Looking way good, man!

Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about, and why it happened, but still working out how to fix it. Been thinking about remaking them to perfect the scaling, but I appreciate the honesty :)
When I get 'round to remaking these I'll be sure to fix this.

And thanks! Needless to say, I put a lot of hours in that week.

Jumping on the T3 criticism train, you need to add the cutouts in the recessed section of the thighs for lighting. There's also a similar rectangular cutout in the forward recess of the bicep.
I'm not sure what you mean, I have a hole there to allow for lighting matching the in game scaling of 25% lighting 75% metal for the indent. Maybe it doesn't show up because I was wearing black pants? Check the close up photo of the thigh.
I do need to cut it out for the biceps still, I know that.
