Yeah. I mean, I can't wait to play with friends and stuff, but it seems like Bungie is starting to drift off the initial Halo plot. Like, all the new guns they're adding, the new spartan armour, vehicles - where did all of these things go by Halo 1?
I know they're just adding new things for the fans, but it seems like a different game, not Halo.
One thing I REALLY don't like however, are the weapons. The AR is just a mess, the BR is too different, etc.
That's all I have to say right now.
It's a game that's going to be released nearly a decade after the first, and you want it to
lose some weapons and vehicles for the sake of storyline? I don't think so. Bungie may be experts at keeping the storyline intact, but they would lose a ton of review scores and overall reception if they
downgraded their product to a few basic weapons that are so heavily dated, or some vehicles or armor that date back to 2001.
Armor: We really don't know that much about what will happen with the armor. A few new permutations, oh no! We can conclusively say that they must have excluded Mark V to ruin our lives forever, let's all go on a homicidal rampage in Bungie Studios, right?
Vehicles: Driving the same beat-up truck that's nearly 30 years old would be very unappealing when you have the cash on-hand for a brand new, top-of-the-line one, right? No. Driving the same old hunk-of-junk is just as boring in games when you have the opportunity to expand your horizons with new vehicles, or add some upgrades to existing ones, regardless of time period.
Weapons: The only difference between the old and the new is the aesthetics, and that is a purely subjective argument. It's on a military outpost, it's
not going to look like Tinkerbell gave everything a makeover. Plus, did you
see the Assault Rifle reload animation? It probably seems familiar if you pay attention, because
it's recycled from Halo 3. Again, only real difference is aesthetics.
And if making changes to a game also changes its definition as a Halo game, then they should just keep remaking Halo 1 for the rest of eternity. They have more space to upgrade graphics, textures, models, and even then there's tons of unused potential. Do you waste that potential and have millions of butthurt fans? Of course not, you start experimenting with different additions to the game so that it is more appealing to the targeted audience while keeping everyone else nice and relatively happy with their purchase.
