Wow, I'm glad I joined when I did.

I did read the FAQ and rules before joining, and I must say, im glad I did. I probably saved myself from being kicked off these wonderful forums!

But, I have been on other forums such as Airsoft Canada, and asked a noobish question. I was asked if I was over 18. I said no, and I got a whole 16 pages of flame after flame saying "Canada is in a very tight spot for airsoft, can we dont need a minor ruining it for us all!" It was amasing how many bad things they said, and non of them were baned! Some forumes are just brutal! Thats why I like it so no new people can join for now. It gives us time to clean out the spammers from the serious crafters. We spend hour after hour on our costumes and weapons only to get hit down over and over again by the people who dont appreciate this sight!

Thats my 2 cents.

CHEERS!

Good thing. Also with the COPPA thingy.

Will you make some kind of a judging comittee to add new fervent members from time to time?

I think the idea is a so-so plan. It will keep the majority of the clutter from forming in the forums, but it will also probably annoy anyone who wants to be part of the community here.

There are numerous ways that we could keep the mess out without doing this, but all of them are hard to enforce and have many flaws.

Also, I believe some of the problem may have been sparked because of the neglect mods were showing to the Noob forum at times. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I think that moderators should have a somewhat strict and uniform understanding of the rules. What one person takes as offensive may be taken as humor to another, and so on. The rules should be set, and not used by the understanding of the moderator that is patrolling that topic. Luck shouldn't be a deciding aspect in punishment. Bias shouldn't be a deciding aspect of punishment, either.

An excuse many hear is "Well, I have other things to do, I can't spend much free time her." I'm sorry if I sound rude, since I don't intend it, but why on earth are you moderating a forum if your free time is so dear to you. If you don't have time to be on much, then resign your position and let someone with more time take your place. It's selfish to have the title of moderator just for the sake of the title, and not for the benefit of the forums.

My post is getting off topic, though, so I'll stop there. Here, I'll bring us back on topic:

Registration is closed! Yaaay!

Not offended, but this job is easier said than done. We can't be everywhere at once. I'm not sure I understand how we've neglected the noob forum and why this has turned into a discussion of whether the mods understand the rules ( o_O).

Adam has a few little bugs to work out and when he's done, everything will be just hunky dory with no spam accounts. We've made routine changes to the forum like this before and it always annoys people for a week or two then everything goes back to normal.

Well, 'nuf said. I'm glad to listen to everyones ideas and criticism.

*The Noob Forum, as I said before, was only neglected at times. Perhaps, say, 20 hours of the day had moderators slapping down rulebreakers. However, those last four hours, no moderators would be online, and rulebreaking topics could grow without being interrupted. The next day, the mods would get MOST of these topics, but a few would be unnnoticed. This cycle could easily build up into the notorious reputation the forum had for having a bunch of rulebreakers. However, this could not be blamed on the mods, since many of them live in the U.S., and cannot be awake in the wee hours of the morning.*

Enough of that, however, I'm going to get back on topic.

On the login screen, it says that you must register an account to login. If we plan to have a specific login period, the message should be changed, if at all possible, to make it more clear. There are many more register notices that I hope will be changed, to atleast make it somewhat clear that registering at any random time won't work.

Also, the post count should be removed, which I'm sure many agree with. I remember that that was the plan sometime ago, but Adam probably didn't get around to it.

I get too sidetracked here. >.>

*Was just an example, that wasn't anywhere near exact, but it was simply to prove a point.

Why not add more mods? Or just dedicate certain mods to certain sub-forums? I remember we did that a while back...

I don't know if you guys have tried looking for more and couldnt find any, but if you did, I may be interested.

BlackRose is always around reporting posts and slapping noobs, if the forum gets more Mods, she'd be a great candidate.
A place like this needs a lot of attention and watchful eyes, I guess.

Ral Partha, too. I haven't seen him do much more than help other members.

Agreed. Along with Blacrose too.

Kensai is also one of the "Mod" types.

Edit: Actually come to think of it, Imagonnagetyou would make a good Mod in my opinion.

He does pick out the mistake's and problem's people cause and fixes most of them.

Just an opinion.
You also have to put in to consideration that some of the people we're talking about might not even WANT to be mods and have that type of responsibility.

listen, the mods get together when the time comes to pick mods themselves. we can't pick people as general members, because we don't have that kind of responsibility to the forums. plus, i think i could make a great mod myself. this may bring up some conflict with the present moderators trying to compound their tasks with picking future mods, which makes for an even more annoing task.

in short, glad the registration is closed. good move Mr. Grumbo, this will help. And, please don't pick candidates for future moderators, please. this makes me jealous and upset, as with the mods (most likely)

No one is picking mods, we're just throwing our opinions. Although, discussing new Mods IS off-topic so this should probably end now.

I agree with what have been said above.

I suggested it a long time ago, but I think the subforums mods should have a small clean-up. Spartan+Mjolnir=Ownage, Frizzlefry and MustangMatt aren't here these days sadly.

Actually, that probably won't happen. I've been banned before, although the reason was quite Stalinist in nature, but they will still use it against me.

It would be nice, seeing how I'm on a lot, but it is almost completely impossible.

I agree It is off-topic, but its not worth making a new topic for.
If anywhere this would be the best place to discuss it.

We have a lot of good members who would make fine moderators, but its not just random people who are well known we're looking for, or people with amazing armour, considering moderating a forums is not related to making armour at all.

We need people who are active, trustworthy and people who actually know what their job is.

If I may make a request, I'd be willing to Take the role of a moderator or member of staff.

Yes I know I'm pretty new, And may not be quite trustworthy yet. Or not me in particular, I think we need Moderators from different Timezones. E.g I'm willing to be a moderator mostly because I'm from England. And during the day you guys are still in the pit, or waking up for school/work.

Not necessarily voting myself, just somebody from a different timezone.

I think the moderators knows what they are doing. They have a 2 moderators in NZ, Doom somewhere I always forget the name and in the US. It's pretty rare there are no moderators connected.

I don't think the Noob forum is bad. Yes there might be people doing stuff against the rules, but if it's there firsts posts, they don't know. When everyone joined, we were all excited and asking hundread of questions.

Are you guys honestly suggesting that a moderator has to be here 24 hours a day? Cool, gonna pay us do that?, because I kinda feel like if I have a shift I should be on the clock.

If registration is closed what is the fear? Can't the current members be trusted to follow the rules? When the cat is away, do the mice doublepost and flame? :p

If the site needs 24 hour supervision then I honestly believe that we're doing something else wrong here when we indoctrinate new members.

Well That's true, considering the Registration is closed we wont have more Noobs coming along and asking silly questions.

But I'm saying it could always be somewhat useful to have at least 1 moderator on at a time, when I come online in the morning there are about 20 members online, but no staff/moderators, That's why but i guess its not all bad.
