Electronics!!

Got my stuff in the mail for both the helmet and armor lights. Started with the helmet to learn some basic soldering skills. The fan came out perfect! My only issue was with the mic. I believe I got it all connected right according to the diagram. Not sure what to do, is it because my wires are too big and they may be touching at the sound Amp? Or because I didn't close that second Out prong?
Going to tackle the lights tomorrow, still haven't found any good hdpe sheets. At least none off Amazon that seem to match what's recommended. I think I'm going to look for a thin cutting board tomorrow and see.
It's hard to tell based on the photo angle but there might be a short between your yellow and red wires in the second photo. Check for any solder spatter or stray wire strands that might be causing issues.

I'll definitely check it out! I'm also thinking that it could be my out wires. I tried to do a parallel between the power source, mic, and sound Amp.

Got it to work! And the sound isn't too bad. Going to install it tonight or tomorrow. I'm thinking on the top portion of the forehead. I'd cut it out and just paint the speaker case black. I'll post a video tomorrow once I get it installed.

So I got it in, managed to get the hole cut out and once it's painted you'll barely be able to tell. But the sound is not good. At all. There is no difference between me talking with it on versus off. When I turn it on the speaker makes the noise indicating it's on, the light turns on the Amp, and the mic works when I blow into it or get out close to my mouth. Not really sure what the deal is but I want to throw it lol. 4 hours wasted.

Figured out the issue! It was the resistor. Switched out the 4.7m ohm to the 120 ohm. I can hear myself this time but it cuts off here and there and it's still somewhat quiet. Going to get 300 ohm and see how that works.

Houston... we have lights!! The chest/ back is done, going to do the thighs tomorrow. Used blue LEDs, right now I'm holding the power bank in my pocket until I can find a way to secure it. This literally took all day lol but with those helping hands it saved time and my sanity. Once the thighs are done I'm going to apply for tier 2.

Got the thighs attached. The power cord disconnected as I was trying it all on the first time so that was neat getting inside the cavity to solder. I placed the battery behind the cod piece, which honestly worked out. The only issue was the spacing between the front/sides. Once I rebuild the belt I'll see how to fix that.

Starting the BR85. Didn't go with the DMR because the BR is more iconic to me imo. Should be all printed by next week. Going to do H4 color schemes so they don't blend in to my armor too much. Waiting on magnets to arrive this week so get the thigh attached and back. Should be interesting! 8 pieces done, 20 more to go!

What does the Halo Wiki say about the size of the rifle? If you did scale it up to what it says, you might find it pretty big as that's "spartan scale". I hear people usually shrink it down to about 90% of what the lore says.
Wiki puts the BR85 at 99.2cm

That's a little less than what I scaled my carbine down to (103ish cm instead of like 130cm.) Also I printed the magnum at 95%scale cause "am smol".

Now if the BR is gonna end up around the same length, it should scale fine with everything else.

99.2cm. I probably should have scaled it to 90%, didn't look to much into the files too much. When I plugged it into Armorsmith and it seemed to fit good and it's good size compared to the game.

Thanks for that comparison! I did not shrink the magnum it seems to fit my hands good. I cannot wait to print your carbine! I'm hoping the creator of the files scaled it to 99.2cm, because I did not check. Honestly.

I'm getting the OddWorks DMR printed and to check the scale I just took the dimensions of each part in the slicer program and added the lengths. It's pretty much 100% lore accurate being at or just under 109cm. I figured that since most UNSC weapons are meant for regular sized humans I'd print it without adjusting anything.

Getting a lot of things done today! So my order of magnets for the props; weapons and tacpad, have arrived along with 300ohm resistors for the microphone. The mic is perfect in terms of sound, it just gives feedback, cuts off here and there, and my voice can only be picked up if my mouth is on the mic, luckily the speaker came unattached to the board so I'll have to solder it again. I also just ordered a new speaker. The magnum attached well to the thigh! Two magnets inside the thigh and three in the magwell. Once I cut into the magazine that's where the magnets will sit. Enabling me to still pull it out for looks. Might add a small strip on the outside just to keep it extra secure.

The BR is basically done!! I need to reprint the two missing pieces in the center but the file is acting up. Size is alright, I guess we'll have to wait and see once I suit up. I'll need to cut the magazine a little so it doesn't stick out so much and add the magnets. The next update should be the security shoulder, br, and Magnum painted!
