LulzBot Taz 6. Gotta love that big build area.

We just kinda jumped in head first. Took the upfront cost hoping to not have to upgrade for a few years. But it's working out pretty good so far, just some minor issues here and there.

Got the first part of the chest armor completed. The fit seems great.

Here is everything we have printed so far (including the Hydra).

One of the main reasons that the Recluse has really stuck with me as my Halo 5 armor of choice are the boosters. They remind me of gundam/giant robot boosters. Always thought that was the coolest thing about them. Here is the first one ready for assembly.

We are making a huge push this week on the Recluse. Got the chest armor fully assembled, and actually started priming some of the armor for painting. Going to do more filling and priming tomorrow. Lots of progress. Hoping to have the chest rig fully set up by tomorrow.

The recluse armor armor is one of the better H5 armors I think. I might have to try printing one as well, still have 2 more armor sets to print that sit still up in the air. What do you plan on for a helmet?

I'm modeling it after my Halo 5 avatar who uses an Air Assault Helmet. Unfortunately, I don't have the time just yet to really work with the available files. Additionally, I don't trust myself with an angled visor. So In the interest of time (and since I too am graduating from ODST to Spartan) I decided to purchase the Helljumper helmet from Beaver Creek proving grounds and go with it. I plan on revisiting the Halo 5 Air Assault in the future though.

This weekend was a lot of assembling, sanding, filling. Resulting in the first coats of primer. Really a great milestone in a project when the paint starts going down.

Its amazing how much some filler primer does. So I have started on the chest piece and I'm looking it over. Where did you cut the chest splitting the front from the back??? Looking at the model where they seem to join together (font and rear halves) the mesh is very complicated and doesnt look printer friendly. Where you able separate them on that actual seam somehow? I'm thinking I may have to delete then rebuild those sections and make them much simpler

They are actually extremely 3d printer friendly. In meshmixer the two halves came out as separate pieces. And they were able to be easily separated.

From there I took the chest and sliced it into 7 sections, more sections may be needed for smaller printer surfaces. For the back section I cut it into 4 sections and cut off the booster which I also cut in half (unfortunately no screen caps from that part :().

I printed at .2 layer height for this piece (since most will see it right off the bat). It worked great for the detail on the build.

Hmmm blender and 3d builder are loading them as one piece and connecting them. Guess I'll try it in mesh mixer thanks
Edit: Nevermind I think I know what went wrong. I did an auto repair in 3d builder for individually defined faces (or something like that) and that's what may have connected the pieces d'oh *palm to forehead* thanks again

No problem, just use the separate shells function and it should catch em. If not go with selection.

No worries good luck on the work! These 3d models can be quite finicky as we both know.

Whats better than one booster? Two boosters!

Also got some bondo work done on the chest. So...much...sanding...work...must....hide....the...seams...

Looking great (y) At least your using spot putty. That's stuff sands sooo much easier then the actaual body filler.

Fact! body filler is just too much sometimes for the weird angles the armor sets give.
