Ok, today my update is in a new form, video! I had some details that i thought would be better explained in video, rather than picture. to watch, just click the image below and it should take you to the video on my photobucket. While youre there, feel free to look around, all my photos from this build are on there.

If you noticed at the end, the audio got a little screwed up. What I said was, "Im going on vacation (to las vegas!! :D:D:D Sadly, im 15, so no gambling.. Oh well, its still awesome!) for a week starting tuesday, so dont expect another update till probably wednesday or thursday."

I hope youre enjoying my progress, Ill talk to you in a week!

Also, this is the 141st comment on this thread! (All of you COD fans should get what im talking about.)

Ding ding ding! Give the man a prize! As you can probably tell, along with Halo, im a big COD lover as well.

Anyway, after returning from vacation, (which was awesome by the way :cool) I finished my right thigh. I used some sheets of foam i had lying around to do the inner part, heres the finished product:

Ok, now I have to repeat on the left thigh. After that, I think Ill do the boots. And in the meantime, I reaaally need to get a mouse sander, because sanding the whole thing by hand is an extremely boring and slow process.

Hope youre enjoying it!

Ok everyone, my thighs are done! And again, since I didnt do the HD thigh pep, Ive been making a mold and pouring rondo into it to get that little raised detail on the front. Here you go, the finished thighs!

Photo1913.jpg

Photo1911.jpg

Unlike last time, I took pictures of the mold. Last time I made it from wood, but it stuck to the rondo when it dried. So this time i made it from foam, and it worked much better.

Photo1914.jpg

Photo1918.jpg

Photo1916.jpg

The mold came off real nice, only a few pieces of foam stuck to the rondo, and those were easily scraped off.

Heres the left compared to the right.

Heres the left thigh, ready for paint.

Base coat of black.

Heres the fully painted left thigh.

The back of the left thigh.

Photo1924.jpg

This is the right thigh. On this one,I decided to use a marker and draw in the VI thats on the mark VI armor. Now while Im pretty sure that the Chief doesnt actually have this on his armor, I put it on anyway because I think its a cool detail.

Photo1923.jpg

Antoher view of the right thigh.

Photo1909.jpg

I splashed some rondo in the thighs to keep the foam really secure in there.

Photo1929.jpg

Heres both the thighs on me, theyre all done except I havent gotten the foam on the left thigh yet.

Photo1934.jpg

Same thing as the last picture, except in this one, the thighs are completely done, foam and all.

Thanks for checking it out! The boots are next, stay tuned!

Hey everyone, its been a while since my last updat, and I have a lot of progress! Lets get started.

Photo1948.jpg

Since I used the LD files for the boots, I used a method I found in spitfire's build where you use thick, cardstock-like paper to do the details. this is one of the pieces of paper I used for the details on the boots.

Photo1950.jpg

Heres one of the boots with the detail glued on.

Photo1955.jpg

These are the boots resined and rondo'd.

The boots with a base coat of black.

Photo1970.jpg

Here are the finished boots.

Photo1971.jpg

Another pic of them finished.

Photo1963.jpg

Now on to the codpiece. After I resined it, I split the front off of it, glued clips on it, and then rondo'd it.

Photo1966.jpg

You can see one of the clips in the front there.

Clips closed.

Alright, The suit is really coming along! All thats left now are the forarms, shoulders, and chest! Hope you like it!

Ok, first off I just want to say that buying a rotary tool and an electric plam sander was probably the best armor-related decision Ive made so far! They are AMAZING!!! they make everything so much easier! Anyway, I also want to give a shoutout to Jonus, for puting a link to an amazing painting tutorial for dry-brushing in his build thread. (Prop painting 101) I used this technique to give all my armor a beat up metal look. Here, check it out!

110815_004.jpg

Heres an example of the metal look that dry-brushing creates. I think it look s really good.

110816_001.jpg

Now im sure youve noticed that the shiny green color of the halo 3 legendary helmet im using doesnt exactly match the weathered dark green on the rest of my pieces. So I taped off the black parts so that I can re-paint it.

Now here are a few pictures of the helmet after I re-sprayed it, but before I dry-brushed it.

110816_022.jpg

Heres me all suited up.

110816_024.jpg

Ill be wearing my Ghost balaclava under the helmet for extra awesomeness ;)

Ok, Im very happy with my progress so far. Feedback is welcome and appreciated!

Looking real good man, glad you found my thread useful regarding the cardboard details.

One of the things I regret about my armor was dry-brushing using white paint instead of gray or metallic. It looks really good on your armor pieces.

Keep up the great work.

This is update has a huge amount of pictures. So many, I have to use two seperate comments to get them all in, I believe theres around 25 or so.

Ok, remember that assault rifle that I pepped out a while ago? Well, I got tired of seeing it sit around unfinished, so I went ahead and resined it. Then I gave it a base coat of black, sprayed some Great Stuff brand expanding foam in it, glued on the grip, and proceded to give it what I believe to be one of my best paint jobs yet. So go ahead, feast your eyes...

Ok everyone I know its been a while since Ive updated this thread (goin on a month now) but Ive just been really busy lately. Good news though, I have made a bit of progress. I now have the left shoulder completely finished, and I figured out a really cheap and easy alternative to the super-elaborate strapping that a lot of people have rigged up on their suits, but Ill get to that later. Now for the shoulders.

110910_001.jpg

Left shoulder resined

110910_003.jpg

110910_005.jpg

So I went and bought myself some cheap sunglasses (ZZ top anyone?)

110910_008.jpg

110911_004.jpg

Left shoulder painted

110912_003.jpg

I used my dremel (i LOVE that thing!) and carved in those lines on the shoulder

110912_004.jpg

Another shot of the detailing

110912_005.jpg

Here it is with all the paint details done, I dry-brushed it and got some black paint in the dremeled out lines

110912_006.jpg

Front of the shoulder

110912_007.jpg

Back of the shoulder

110912_008.jpg

Heres the finished left arm

110912_009.jpg

I still have a good range of movement while wearing it, which is good.

Now for that strapping thing I was talking about earlier.
See, I was browsing walmart the other day looking for something when I walked through the sports aisle. And there I found some really cheap shin guards that come in peewee, youth, and adult sizes. So I bought two packages of peewees and one pack of adult. Im gluing a peewee into each shoulder and forearm and the adult into each shin piece. The velcro straps are stretchy, so theyre really easy to attach, and they stay on really well. Its worked out awesome so far, and Id highly recommend doing this.

110911_003.jpg

110911_002.jpg

Heres one of the forearms with the pad in it

110911_001.jpg

And heres the shin

You're build is coming along pretty nicely. Great thinking with the shin guards inside the armor parts for padding. Good job buddy!

Hey everyone, my build is starting to come to a close. Since the last update ive finished the other shoulder, the other shin, and all thats left now is the chest piece and the two handplates. Everythings pepped out, all thats left to do is resin, rondo, and paint them! Here we go:

I decided to dry-brush the recon helmet i made for a friend. I think it came out pretty good.

Alright everyone, this build is soooooo close to being finished! All thats left is one handplate and im done! last night I finished up my chest piece last night, and it came out really good! I resined it, then split it in half, glued in some clips, rondo'd it, dremeled in the battle damage (indicated by the purple sharpie marks on the piece), and finally painted and dry-brushed it. Here it is:

Hope you like it, this thing wouldnt look half as good without your feedback, thanks a million!
