Mk VI Build WIP

This is actually my second suit that I am building since my first was destroyed in a move (paper does not survive moving very well). Anyways I have most of the suit pepped and even a boot resined with smooth cast :D, My goal is to finish before school year or at least before spirit week, Last year a senior got two full pages for dressing up in a cardboard box and an optimus prime mask, so I think I can top that with Mjolnir armor.

Lower half, pepped!

I'm using smooth on 321 and 320 and it's working really well the boot and handplate are pretty durable and stiff as they are right now with only two coats of 321 and 320 on the two pieces.

It is, I bought a trial kit of each and it was $55 in total (trial kit of smooth cast 320 is $26 and 321 is also $26). And it's non toxic. But fiberglass still is the best method if you have the money for it.

Update Time!

So here is the top half completed (ODST Helmet is just place holding for my mjolnir helmet that's in storage):

Looking good!!! I can't really tell right now cause my computer crashed and I'm using my phone, but is the upper part hd and lower half ld? How do you like the smooth on method? I really don't know much about it. Where did you get the trial kit? Keep up the good work!!

To answer in order: Thanks! And it's all Low def peps, except on the right of the left thigh (if that made sense) is the inner section of the thigh from the high def file. The smooth on is great but it destroys brushes real fast, so use only the tip and cut off what you've used so you can still use the rest of the brush, and after just barely even 2mm it's a tough plastic. I got my kit from http://www.smooth-on.com/pages.php?pID=104. And thanks!

Your suit is coming along quite nicely! Keep on going and keep posting your progress pics.
Cant wait to see your suit completed!
Cheers! :)

Bump with wip pics!

I thought the original handplate looked to huge so I resized it measuring the width of my hand instead of the length, Not sure if it looks better though~

Hoorah! This marks half of the suit being coated on the outside with the completion of this belt! I had to cut it so it would fit thought T.T

Thanks, and I definitely recommend this method. Oh and here's some more wip pics.

Biceps outer coating done:

And I tried on the chest and forearms (outer coating done) to see it looks, I think it's a pretty good fit, but does anyone think the chest might be too small? I'm not sure about it :/

DONE!

Or at least 90% so, I figured that some areas need at touch up before calling it completely done and I'd like to work on the detail of the paint a bit. Also the helmet needs a real visor, not my lamination/paper hybrid~ But I think it's come along great and I became an insta-celebrity at my high school (on my second to last day there).

Anyways on to the progress pics!

Looking good so far! I think the second, smaller handplate looks much better, and the chest seems to fit you well, at least in the shoulder area. It looks to me like a well sized chest should stop maybe 6-8 inches above the belly button, but I've never made one myself so I'm not 100% sure. All-in-all, the chest size is good from what I can see.
