Hello Everyone! This is my first real post on this site so I will do my best to emulate the format everyone else uses. I've been making small props with 3D printed for about a year now. When I got sent home from my college campus and was told I wouldn't be going back until most likely next year, I decided I wanted to start a big project to keep me busy during quarantine. My first actual good quality halo print was my Mark VB Helmet. The progress of this build can be found here:
.

At this point, I wasn't sure if I wanted to make a full suit yet, as I knew how daunting of a task it would be. However, I did want to make more halo props, so I decided to make something that would be cool regardless of if I made a suit or not, an Assault Rifle! I wanted to keep the color scheme of the helmet, just in case I decided to make a full suit (plus its got my favorite colors), and so after a long time of printing sanding, and painting, my rifle was finished!

After I finished this, I decided I wanted to make a suit! I decided I wanted to splurge and go with a paid set for the suit, (even though Moesizzlacs armor is great love you man) so I went with this one: Reach Spartan Base Armor Set Wearable 3D printable model

I also decided that I wanted to make a new helmet, as the one I made first is a bit too big, and also not really my favorite design from Halo Reach! The one I actually wanted to use for a full suit was the EOD helmet with no rebreathers attachment, and luckily, my man Moesizzlac made one! I decided to add a bit more detail to his helmet, and then began printing all the files! At first, sizing of the parts was really hard and I chewed through tons of filament doing parts over and over again. Eventually, I started to get the hang of printing pieces though.

This is my current plan for what the suit will look like. This is using the program Armorsmith. (I got lazy when doing this so not all the parts are actually shown here, and some of the scaling is a bit off)

After printing for weeks and spending an ungodly amount of money on filament, I got to this amount of completion of the hard surface components of the suit.

However!!! After printing the entire chest, I discovered that it was way too big for the rest of my body, and I looked like a Dummy Thicc spartan. That was a huge bummer, but luckily my man MarineSniper had a use for a larger chest piece!

Now I'm pretty much all caught up to the present in my journey of this suit! I'm currently printing pieces for a smaller chest, and after that, all I have to print is the calves, abdomen (flexible filament?), hands, feet, belt, and perhaps a different shoulder; and then months of sanding ahead! Here are a few pieces, and the parts of the new chest I have printed so far.

The undersuit and gaskets are a huge stress point for me in this project, as I'm very well versed in 3D printing, however, making something with soft materials like an undersuit is completely new to me! I want to avoid having just plain cloth or smooth fabric underneath the suit and in the gaps, as the actual suits have undersuits with designs and grooves etc. So far my thoughts of accomplishing this are maybe making flexible undersuit components out of flexible filament. MarineSniper is also supplying me with some of his fantastic gaskets, which will be a huge help!

I also want to add lights to the suit. This is also something I have a small amount of experience with, but it's much less of a stress point for me than the undersuit. I added holes to the 3d models in the appropriate spots for lights to be added, so I won't have to carve into my 3d prints.

Here is my setup for my printers! I was lucky enough to grab both of these from craigslist for $250 each. Ender 3 on the left and a Lulzbot Taz 5 on the right.

I will update this post (or should I add to the thread?) as I make new parts! the lower portion of the front of the chest is almost finished, so once that's printed and attached to the rest of the chest I'll post it here.

I would like to finish off my first post with a huge shoutout to MarineSniper for all the help and advice he's given me throughout my journey of making this suit! Super nice and helpful guy.

Wow this is looking awesome already! I saw some of your initial stuff on Reddit and glad you made it over here to the 405th.

Excited to see how the rest of your build is going.

I am in the middle of making my own full suit (MK VI). This is something that is 100% new to me and I am learning a ton as I go through it. Feel free to reach out if you have questions and I will gladly share what I know.

For LED lights and wiring I'll suggest giving this thread a look over:

Thanks man and I will definitely look that over!

Update! The new (smaller) sized chest is almost fully printed. The sizing looks much better this time. I also printed a calf piece, but it is pretty huge on me, even if it is proportional to the rest of the suit. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with the calves, whether or not I need to shrink it down. I also got this wetsuit at a yard sale for $15 this morning. I had the idea of cutting it up and using it as the fabric base/structure for the gaskets/joints. Yesterday I bought the shoulder 3d models I'm thinking of printing. I'm trying to decide which shoulders to use! I'm a huge fan of these models as they connect seamlessly with my biceps. The pattern engraved in the backs of these on the top of the biceps, so the connection and positioning should be perfect. For printing, all I have left to print is the belt, figure out what I'm gonna do for the calves, the shoulders, and the feet. I also ordered a roll of flexible filament to print the abdomen piece in. Depending on how the flexible abdomen part goes, I might 3d model the rest of the joints/gaskets (because they all have very distinct textures and designs) and print them in thin flexible filament. I've attached relevant images about all the stuff I just talked about.

WOW, this is looking amazing, love your paint and weathering on your noble 6 helmet and rifle. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finish on the rest of your armor! Thanks for also sharing the location for the files, might have to look into buying that for myself as well. Your sizing looks really nice as well, great work all around! Very excited to see what you have in the future, and I'm curious to see how you modify the wetsuit for the joints and patterning! Keep building Spartan, I'll definitely be watching this thread!

Thanks alot! It surely is a huge project but I will do my best to keep y'all updated! Hope the flood of pictures I post isn't too overwhelming lmao.

I love the look of the new chest and the shin /calf they already look a little big but Spartans have big calves

They definitely do! I'm gonna hold off on making the other one for a bit and focus on the flexible parts/shoulders. BTW, would you be interested in me sending you the security shoulder that I'm wearing in those pics? I'm gonna reprint it with a newer model so I won't need it.

for real man i would love to have it. and i show my son the build you are doing he said it was awesome he really liked it....

Currently printing both shoulders! One commando shoulder, one security shoulder. I've also begun experimenting with flexible filaments. Unfortunately, this filament I bought does not seem flexible enough to be used as elbow or knee joints, but it could work as the abdomen or shorts part of the undersuit.

yeah that why i kind of went the way of the casting side. but other then that i think the armor is looking better everyday....

Your build is looking GREAT! Where did you pull the files from and would you mind posting them to share? I have a different model in mind to build, but I think it is also great to be able to mix and match some of the parts to make something unique, or if you want a slightly different look (like a more bulky shoulder guard).

Keep the pics and progress coming, it is looking great so far.

Hey! So I cant post the files directly because Ive purchased all the ones Im using, however, here is my modified version of Moe's EOD helmet that I'm using: Halo Reach - EOD Helmet Added detail ( No re breather ) by TvanHelene

All my other files are from here: NerdForgeDesigns on Etsy
and here: fletchasketch3 | CGTrader

that is the same artist but 2 different sites. I include both because CG trader often has sales of 30% off. However, some of the listings he has on cg trader don't actually have all the files advertised, so I had to contact support to get a refund. Great models though.

First shoulder printed! Im a huge fan of this 3D model. Its sizing and dimensions are perfect. It also has detail on the inner side of the shoulder plate, something that I don't see on other models. The great thing about this set of models is that the shoulder slots right into the bicep! You can see the matching grooves on the inside of the shoulder and the outside of the bicep. This makes the connection very secure and ensures the shoulder is properly aligned with the rest of my body. The other shoulder is halfway done, should be done tomorrow! (Sorry about the bad image quality and messy background, I took these pictures at my home gym in my basement.
