Hope I’m posting this in the right place.
Officially starting my ODST build this week so this’ll be my work in progress thread. Starting on soft parts first then I’ll move onto the armor.

This is my bucket from Branfuhr Studios. Primered it black to better see any imperfections that need to be corrected.

Got this shirt to serve as donor fabric for the undersuit sleeves.

Got boots, Sean Bradley’s ODST gloves, and a big piece of leather coming in soon. Need to get some more fabric and pants for the rest of the undersuit. More updates to come.

I don't see many ODSTs with all the soft parts so I'm excited to see what you do.

It’s a very under looked part of a bunch of costumes I’ve seen. I understand though, I absolutely hate all the sewing

Got some goodies today.

Got some standard jungle boots. These are the same boots the soles are modeled from in-game.

Also got Sean Bradley’s ODST gloves. Really excited to get these. I’ve been following Sean Bradley’s studio for years and finally purchased something from him.

Where did you get the boots from, and if you don't mind sharing, how much were they?

Got them on Amazon. Searching jungle boots should get you results. Wouldn’t recommend buying the absolute cheapest ones though as the quality is usually terrible. These costed me $60usd. Word of caution, if you’re not used to these kind of boots take your time breaking them in. Jungle boots are notorious for being rough on feet

I think its these ones if i look at them closely next to each other

Newbsters if its okay to post this, otherwise i'll remove the link ;)

Those are the exact ones. Wasn’t sure if it would be available in every area so I just let everyone know what kind of boots they are

Got some more material for the undersuit today.

It’s undershirt (A-shirt/tank top, whatever you call it) material. It’s the most cost effect fabric that matches the material around the elbows/knees in the game. Probably gunna have to double up on it to make sure it can’t be seen through. Just need to get some black cotton twill and black jeans and I can start putting all the soft parts together.

More material updates and a quick question.

Question first. How many magnets would it take to hold a 3D printed ODST shoulder piece? I was thinking like 5 rare earth magnets. Wanna make sure it doesn’t get bumped off.

Found these at Walmart. $20 for both items

These trousers happen to be the off-color black that you see in-game. They also have hidden back pockets. These won’t really need much modification except around the knees.

Generic dryfit shirt for the armpit areas. Figured dryfit material would be best for that sweaty area.

So time for some updates, sorry it is a longer reply. I’ve been on a break for the past two months dealing with declining mental health. Doing great now so no need to worry.
Anyways, got back to work on this build. Bought a bunch of more materials and a cheap gun belt to start my belt rig with. Been working on templates for the battle belt. How’s the scale looking so far? Thinking I need to shorten the tasset plates and butt pack just a hair. Keep in mind I’m 6’3 so things might need to be a little longer on me to look proportionally correct. Including the reference pics too. I’ll be posting updates more regularly now.

Your tassets might be a little oversized in relation to the belt buckle but you're definitely in the right ballpark with having the overlap of the thigh plates. At your current scale I'd expect a bit of collision with the kidney plates or a bit of discomfort when moving at the hips. Maybe drop those down two or three percent and see how they look?

I’ve done some adjustments to the templates and made templates for other belt items. Will post some updated pics soon

Got the templates trimmed and made the cod plate template. Gunna shave about an half inch of each side of the cod plate though. Did some detail pieces too but forgot to take a pic. Pretty happy with how they look right now. Gunna start cutting some stuff out tomorrow

Those boots are sweet! I got the full Sean Bradley ODST kit when it was on sale and am just now building it. Are you planning to use EVA foam for your parts?

As far as keeping pieces in place, magnets sound cool but may be better for smaller, lighter pieces. For example, I'm using them to stick my visor in place. Sean's DIY guide has some great strap placement/tutorials that seem to work really well. They may be the simplest and best solution (albeit they require a little sewing, the most daunting task ahead for me as well!)

Probably 3/4 of the main armor is gunna be 3D and resin printed, some with fiberglass reinforcement. Other materials I’m using are EVA foam, kydex, sintra, and leather. My shoulders will be attached with magnets with one small retention strap. Everything else will either be Velcro or clipped on. For the main chest armor, the straps and clips I circled are what I’m gunna use to attach those pieces. Pectoral plate will be attached with the silver clips and Velcro. Abdominal plates will be clipped under the pectoral plate and attached to the straps going across the sides. That way if I decide to take the abdominal plates off I can just clip the straps back into the plate carrier and it’ll still look like the game reference

Nice...I'm really excited to see your undersuit as I'm definitely going to be doing that last as an after thought. Cool to see you starting with it. Excited to keep up with your build (and take notes for myself!).
