ok, ive seen in some game pictures that the spartans have rifles, pistols etc "connected" to their body.

has anyone done this for their kits? ie: use rare earth magnets in the legs, or clip systems?

just curious...

...also where in the heck do you put the grenades???

I think mcfarlane toys has the best attempt. They use little pegs to attach everything. I would also attach the grenades to the back/butt, jsut like mcfarlane action figures.

I'm planning on using a simple hook system on the thigh pieces to attach my pistols. Same thing for my AR being attached to the torso piece.

From what I've seen, on the codpiece.

Grenades attach to the hip, rifles/ large weapons on back, pistols/energy swords/small weapons are also on the hip. Try adding velro, it really does look good, and it means you have both your hands free while you are in your armor.

I've got some stuff planned with rare-earth magnets. I'm aiming to be done by Halloween, so if I do finish, and the system works, I'll post a tutorial of what I did.

Rare earth magnets seem to be the way to go for this. I've checked a site that has pretty good prices for mags that have pull weights from 6-12 pounds (6 is the minimum-I think).

Talk to Dogwizard about using Magnets...
why, bad idea? Or you're just telling him to go ask him if he has used them?

i knwo that industrial velcro will NOT work for items of this size and weight. mags ARE the way to go, just seeing if anyones done it.

post pics if you have.

The only time I used magnets was tp hold the mag into my sniper rifle. You're going to need some really strong magnets for a whole gun though...

Hm...
Make sure the Magnets your order are "Neodymium Magnets"
Strongest you can buy, can clamp alot too.

the magnets will erase the chips on the boards if you use them on the rifles
Chips? Boards? Huh?

Are you talking about computer chips? My rifle is made of wood. No electronics here....

He's talking about the people that have rifles with electronics in them. If you don't have electronics in your rifle, then that statment wouldn't apply.

Just so you know, from a guy who's worked with many magnets before, even though neodymium magnets are incredibly strong, I would recommend no stronger than a 12 pound pull. If they have a stronger pull than that, they will break very easily when let connect together. I've had magnets completely shatter when I wasn't being carefull. I would recommend 6 pounders for any light pepakura prop, and maybe 12 pounders for anything made of wood that's not over 10 to 11 pounds. ;)

I think mags might be the way to go as well, for one they are simple to use, two cheap, and three need nothing special to work.

This did all get me thinking though about the few draw backs of mags. One, I would be worried about them having too much pull when you don't want them to, say through your armor to get to the other pole in your gun. Having your gun stick to or fry something electronical that you might have passed by. And the problem is that they are always on, so it seems like you could stand a chance of scraping paint, warping material, etc just pulling your gun or nade on and off over and over.

Although I don't know if it is a viable option, I was thinking about using electromagnets, either bought or made at home. It would be nice to be able to just flick a switch and your gun comes off rather than pulling it or sliding it free.

Found this one site http://www.magnetechcorp.com/Round.htm

And no one get any ideas, I am in no way shape or form any kind of an expert on wiring, electronics, mags, ect. Just a layman's brainstorm out for all to see
