sorry for taking so long to reply... been traveling and haven't worked out how to make these alert my email. umm I don't have a link did you mean the carter helmet or the marine one?
and do you mean the marine helmet not being smooth? yeah I know its not I just got bored with sanding it :p
I'll get some new pics up soon but right now I'm making a mark VI helmet and COD piece, then the rest of the suit will follow!

yeah I scratched that up on purpose to give it a well used effect... like just imaging the character using it, not only is there battle that its going through but dropping the helmet on the ground, hitting against any sort of overhanging objects... I figured there would be plenty of scratches in it, that in that case all those little "defects" were on purpose to give it that effect.
But like anything you see a photo of you always know it looks at least 10 times better in person. I have recently come into some more money from my business so I'll start to revert back to making things by using a clay model! time for real work :p

ok I said ages ago I'd have pics up soon but tons of work came in....
anyways heres the masterchief helmet... the only thing I've gotten around to taking a photo of.

also right now I have three things being moulded... a Forerunner helmet, a silenced SMG and an M6G which are all being moulded from sculpts

thanks man! I made it out of a pep at first then decided I wanted a better finish so I did a clay sculpt and used the pep templates to make sure I had it all in sync... I hope by the end or this week or the start of next that I'll be putting up a pic of a Forerunner helmet and an elite'ish hand.
Then the week after I should be about done with my silenced SMG... gonna take my time with this one to make sure it comes out right :p

putting some new pics up soon, not exactly of work.... but I used the "duck tape dummy" idea which I changed a little to make a basic foot shape so I can start the sculpt of the boots :D as soon as they dry pics will go up!

OK! now putting some new pics up :) I forgot to mention I made the master chief helmet out of a pep as well, to try a new method which I just started (technically) this is making the pep then building on that with modeling clay, which you will see I just started on :)

this is a plaster MC helmet from my original mould which I accidentally broke :p

heres the beginning of the alien hand I am making... it was originally planned to end up being an elite hand.. until I had a closer look at the design and realized that wouldn't be entirely practical for a novelty prop :p

heres the beginning and end stage of making the "duck-tape plaster dummy" of my feet :p to make the boots from

Great job on the suits and the helmets, I am enjoying theis build. I really like how the MKVI helmet is comming out.

I've noticed on each end of your pics you have the IMG tags. When you use the IMG tags from photobucket, you don't have to use the insert image button when posting. Just incase you wanted to know

lol thanks for the advice :p I'm not to picky with this stuff so I cbf with the IMG tags :p
but thanks for the compliment! I'm not so sure what to do with that first pull (orange one) coz I no longer need it... and any helpful tips on how to make the visor stick in would be great! I was thinking of cutting the motorcycle visor to be a perfect fit then just use glue... but I'm not to sure

fresh work... god that vent took ages to get right!
and yes it does need smoothing but I won't bother with that until I've done the entire helmet

Man, this is looking really good. Also, I know some people use a heat gun smoothing trick to smooth the clay even further (You have to be careful though). I've seen it done before, but I've never used it (Haven't clay sculpted in 8 or 9 yrs). Just a thought. Again, this is looking really nice.
