Nice build so far. Loving the details! Look forward to how it comes out, more so because I am going through exactly the same as you. Started an Iron Man suit build but all the resin and bondo is costing to much cash and TIME mainly and I need a new year suit fast! Foam build is going at a swift pace but missed the mail man today and can't get my next instalment of foam till monday now!!!

Hi everybody! Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but I had to briefly put my Dare on hold. I was busy making a birthday present for a buddy. He turned 21 this week and I thought what could be cooler than having his very own Master Chief helmet? He’s always liked the Combat Evolved version more so I made for him: Rhinoc’s HD Combat Evolved MKV Helmet
The back piece is made of craft foam and velcros in. I chose to do this because after the helmet was hardened I couldn’t even get my head in it and I have a tiny head.
I used craft foam and hot glue to mount the visor and it seems pretty darn sturdy.
I'd planned to bondo this helm to smooth it a bit, but I ran out of time. I'm still pretty pleased with how it turned out and my friend was thrilled with it.
I am. Everything is built and just about everything is painted. I’m just trying to finish painting, install the visor, and then its all just strapping left.

Do you have an M6C/ SOCOM pistol to go with it, or are you using the assault rifle from previous pics? Would be great to see DARE with her trademark weapon

first, I would like to say Merry Christmas! and then complement you on your fantastic work. I see you're freehanding ahem aka Scratchbuilding alot of your armor, and that's just awesome stuff, keep up the great work!

Nice work on the foam armor, I look forward to the completed pictures.
For future projects you may want to invest in a hotknife, you get cleaner cuts for a nicer finished product. For foam helms I do not rondo/bondo at all, I use 12 or 15mm foam and strengthen the inside with copious amounts of hotglue, with the visor in place it does not flex or bend at all and needs very little padding.

Hey everybody! I’m sorry I abandonded this thread for a while. Life and all that jazz decided I wasn’t going to have time for fun. I’ve got some more free time now and will be returning to this project.
Some updates since I last posted- the visor I got for my helmet broke when I was trimming it down to fit into the helmet so I have to order another and wait for it to come in. I trimmed down my thigh pieces so I can sit and kneel more comfortably. I'm not done painting the thighs yet. Ran out of paint. Le sad. I did get my pistol belt and started mounting some things to it. Heres a crappy cell phone pic for some of the stuff I've got mounted to the belt.
Im going to be building the pistol, just have to find the right template to use as a base. I tried a couple different files but they both camout out kind of icky.
I’m not quite sure what you mean by bumps. Are you referring to the one side that’s all bumpy but the other side is smooth? Because I just flip the foam over and use the smooth side.
Thanks gamemaster! Ill defiantly use your advice when I start my next build. I actually bought a hotknife for this build but I tried it and was extremely disappointed in the results. It wasn’t until Id finished cutting out all my pieces with scissors that I went back and realized the blade it came with the hot knife was as dull as a butter knife. I replaced that one with a brand new one and it works amazingly. I adore it! I wish I’d figured it out sooner. I can see how you were able to get such amazingly precise cuts for your foam armor.
I looked through all the different helmet files and decided I liked yours the best

I made it for my own build using the M6X by carapathiavh99 'cos I'm getting the hang of building sliced models and figured i should have two to these things!
Your foam skills and photos are a good point of reference for while I'm working on my own ODST, so thanks and keep up the good work!
