So I made a spine today
IMG_20180905_203411.jpg

The armor ability fits nice and snug in the chest, because in game it replaces that under bit of the chest. I'm really happy with it
IMG_20180905_203045.jpg

I also added holes for lights later in the spine
IMG_20180905_194218.jpg
IMG_20180905_194306.jpg

And a lil bit of Dremel for detail
IMG_20180905_194541.jpg

I also accidently found out how to attach the spine plates. I dropped a magnet on the back and realized the buttons are metal, so I used magnets

And one last thing, no matter how little I use it, I always accidently get my hands covered in super glue!

Also saftey glasses are important. With a bad combo of magnets and super glue, a single projectile drop beamed toward my eye. Fortunately for me, It cought in my eyelash, itritating my eye, but able to wash out quickly. So moral of the story, wear eye protection. You never know when you might need it.

Where did you find the file for the armor ability, been looking everywhere!

It is the foam chest pattern in the halo reach base file here. It will be in the foam folder.

Halo: Reach - MJOLNIR Mark V - Standard

It has the spine and armor ability which makes it convenient for sizing.

Also something to note, you will have to pull out your own patterns for this. In this center peice the inside patterns are smaller than the hole they go in, so I arranged them on top to cut them to that center width on paper. So you have to put some thought into how they are going to come together when you make your patterns.

I will check that out, thank you!

Well I am at work on the back, but while I was waiting for something to cool, I glued the two spine plates together. Then reinforced the back with hot glue. All in all, I am really happy, it is stronger, less likely to get knocked off, and I also put an extra magnet on each previous magnet to increase the magnet strength. Now it is secure, structuraly sound, and flexible. I am finally happy with them!

And the last bit of progress from tonight
IMG_20180906_212142.jpg

And if your wondering I don't have any details in this upper section because it is going to have fabric over it later

Well it's been a minute. I've had a lot going on, I had to evacuate for hurricane Florance. I have made a significant progress on the chestplate, but I'm saving that for when I finish it. Kinda want to leave that one to a reveal. As of right now, I think I will be able to start work on the legs while I am away. I packed up all my essentials for armor making, can't afford to waist all this time lol

That's probably the best excuse I've ever heard for not working on a project. :D Stay safe man keep up the good work!

Yes it is on the east coast, but no I'm not switching. I'm in the Navy, and I'm at school right now. I'm trying to come back to Cali next year, if not, then im going to washington. If I Finnish my suit when I want to, then I might tag along for a visit sometime before I go lol.

Finally! After a many of things in between me and my project, having to move rooms, study, etc, I finally am back! And I'm so giddy for some new shoes!

First thing, the modifications I did from the file.
- First thing, I shortened the ring around the back of the boot to fit better.
IMG_20180920_110444.jpg

Then I attached the front piece farther back. I liked the way this looked compared to how it's set up in the game, also this allowed for it to fit the boot better, and allow more flexibility.
IMG_20180920_190022.jpg

IMG_20180925_024035.jpg

Next I took out the lip in the front on the pep file, and I cut out a wedge to narrow the front, once again, making it fit my boots.
IMG_20180925_024042.jpg

I also used a sand paper block to round the edges
IMG_20180925_024047.jpg

Next thing of note is the strapping. I wanted to attach this to my boots without permant adjustment to them, so I used elastic and some acoustic foam to hold the boot in place
IMG_20180925_025103.jpg

IMG_20180925_024024.jpg

The next thing that was a really big deal was I wanted flexibility for my boot, it's why I sized it a little short in the first place. I have really good motion, it's secure on the boots, and it is so comfortable.

This should kick this project into gear now, I found a work flow that works for me better. For now, here are just some extra pictures

Tomorrow is going to be fun. The patterns for two shins and two knees! View attachment 260256
Looks good, and I like to conserve as much space as possible, but I usually leave a 1inch space between prices. Won't what you did be hard to cut clean because all the prices are practically touching each other? Wouldn't the blade go into the sides of other pieces?

Shared adges makes cutting time less as you get 2 sides with one cut
