I just made and am currently working on a very amazing suit---

I have also seen many videos (including LongShot) at places such as Cons, parties, Wal-Mart...and of course Halloween

I was just throwing the question out to see the different Ideas--- My wife thinks its COMPLETLY STUPID to just go out to some random fast food place or Wal-Mart... lol--- it is kinda silly....... anyways please throw your ideas out because I LOVE TO HEAR SOME =D

( A ANIMAL RESCUE PLACE has asked me to dress up June 9th and help raise money...2 dollars a picture made with me... LOL )

I guess thats one cool way to wear your suit in public =D

I would recommend asking the locations you want to cosplay at AHEAD OF TIME!

I've always wondered this. I only finished one suit and was kind of unhappy with a few things about it so I never wore it out, but I always see these pictures of troops at random places. I never wanted to ask, but I've often been curious about some of the etiquette rules on this. I've seen a lot of rules about how to act in costume and when in public but I've never seen a post saying whether or not you can just show up at these places or if you ask ahead of time. Thanks for throwing this up.

Just a warning most malls and stores have policy's against wearing masks, for obvious reasons. Public parks may be ok if you have a few friends with to supervise, one lone person in a costume will ring alarm bells with people. Plus there are many problems you will run into alone.

I've done solo runs in costumes with limited visibility. It isn't fun, even at conventions. You need someone to watch your back and your side. I've almost kicked a kid that came in from the blind side to get in front of me for a hug, you need a handler to tell you the kids there. Or to help clear the crowd when yo need a break

Everywhere.

In the shower.

Walking your dog.

Picnic in the park.

Sun bathing on your front lawn.

Driving.

Playing nicky-nicky-nine door.

Romantic dinner with the significant other.

A friend and i once walked into a giant eagle, me in my chief suit and him in a ghillie suit, and were escorted out of the store by two large men after about 5 minutes. Then we went to the public library and the librarians welcomed us in, took pictures, and gave us delicious pastries from the cafe. All in all, it really just depends on what kind of people are in charge of whatever place you choose to go to. And in hindsight, calling ahead to the places probably isnt a bad idea either.

Like Hyo said... EVERYWHERE.

Having said that, 99% of the time I will research the location(s) before hand. Here are a few things that I do before going:
- Call ahead (to the mall or the event organizers) and let them know of your intentions and address any concerns that they may have. Some locations will not tolerate body armor and or prop weapons. I had a friend who was escorted out of a mall because of this. He failed to do any research.
- Research the local laws (federal, provincial, and municipal) in the area with regards to body armor, prop weapons and face coverings.
- Contact the local police to let them know of your intentions and address any concerns that they may have.
- If possible, have a "Handler" with you. Usually there presence can diffuse any negative concerns from the public.
- Read up on your local convention rules and policies for costumes and prop weapons. This should give you an idea as to what is and is not allowed in public.

So far I have had NO issues with any of the local venues that I have been. The closest issue that I had was my foam shotgun at the Calgary 2012 convention. The shotgun was borderline passable for the event. Once that is all said and DONE... HAVE FUN!

Cheers!

Driving a Go Kart

Riding a Bicycle

Do a charity walk

Set up a stand to let people pay to let you teabag them

Dance in public

-Stand in the middle of a public space and act like a statue and then scare the crap out of people who get too close
- Go parkour out with your friends
- Reenact scenes from Red vs Blue in the park
-Get a coffee from the local coffee shop
- Your Grandmother's house (I am totally kidding! Or am I?!)

All jokes aside, you can pretty much wear your costume anywhere you want. Just as long as you get permission and review the laws regarding masks and others of the sort (Like Longshot said).
The possibilities are seriously endless!

As for the law part, you could always just walk around holding the helmet under your arm like a badass.

Also at drunk masquerade parties with all your nerdy friends.
