I officially love this thread. It's like Lord of the Flies up in here.
What a neat little sociological experiment : someone proposes more rules and all of the sudden you're all trying to start us over from scratch. We gave you the inch and now you're all rulers.
Under the current system you're ALL part of the moderating staff. See that 'Report!' button down in the left hand corner? That button allows any member to report offensive material to the moderators. So the community polices itself, and more mods and banhammers aren't needed.
Strangely I haven't seen a recent rash of innapropriate behavior... it was worse a month or two ago. Things recently have been pretty calm.
Crops of newbies come in waves, they ask dumb questions, have to get the rules spelled out for them, then they start to understand and contribute, or they leave. Congrats to the recent graduates of the class of "I'm tired of answering questions that have been answered already" May you wear it with pride.
Lastly, this is an educational website for the Halo armor community. I don't see us closing our doors to younger people simply because they have more questions and need more guidance than the older members. Besides, age isn't a true indicator of maturity..
Want to help the situation? Lead by example. Help those who need it instead of jumping to that fashionable internet trend of shaming them. Write a tutorial or an FAQ. Direct people to where the real information is. Be helpful.
It's a test of patience I know, but it's a necessary part of a growing community like ours.
I think thats all I have to say on the subject.
