Why do YOU build armor?

Well, My parents said that i always used to build stuff out of paper and cardboard (thankyou playschool). And when i got hooked in halo, naturally i wanted to
Start making stuff. Initial attempts were crude until i stumbled accross pepakura and subseqently this site.
Now mainly i do it because i want to (except i still have to finish something ARRGGGHH!!!!).

Well i have two reasons...
#1 i strive to actually finish a project, and hopefully make it a great one.
#2 source of income, me being fifteen its a little hard for me to find a job anywhere, so a friend pays me 20 for just a pep, trying to get good enough for some 200 dollar stuff to up mah ante but that'll take awhile

Microsoft made zillion$ in operating systems and application software. Did they need a game or game console, NO! But the US military did. They started with Bungie and the Mac thinkng they would prepare a small select group, but it wasn't enough. So they enlisted Microsoft to take the game to the next level and get it out there on a game console. Oh, yea, now do you get it?

They are trying to prepare us for the day when the Covenant get here! Urban combat, space combat, huge tracts of devastation, get it? GET IT?
THE COVENENT ARE COMING AND THEY ARE BRINGING THE FLOOD!!!! I'm going to be ready. I'll have my armor; I've trained in the simulation again and again. I've read all the mission reports. I'll be READY. I have my shotgun! AAAAAAAAAA! No, NO! Leave me alone. You're not turnin' me into one of those things! AAAAAAA!!!!!!!

I build armor because I love cosplaying and my halo armor and props are then first things I have made. Plus I'm starting to expand on different type of armor and props besides halo. Like right now i am working on WoW armor, swords, daggers and a crossbow. Plus the feeling of satisfaction of when it is complete and i know i am the one who made it. Plus i can get creative on how things are going to turn out. So far my favorite thing i have made that is halo related is Guilty Spark 343.

I haven't started my build yet, but I (like most people here) have always enjoyed making things. It acts like a stress reliever for me. And looking back at the mound of things I did last semester with recycle paper, I figure why not make something cooler. I also think that if I have ONE set-in-stone-side-project for the next semester I'll be less likely to get sidetracked from studies by random ideas.

Where to begin. Well it started off with humble beginnings. When Halo first came out I thought Master Chief's armor was the coolest thing ever and I've been getting deeper and deeper into the halo universe and really wanted to have my own armor. So yeah very humble beginnings of how I got into this and why I'm still going forward with this. But on a deeper level it was a way to keep myself busy. At the time I started I had just broken up with my girlfriend of two and a half years and starting college under new kinds of stress. Building armor and props or at least learning how to do it was a way for me to escape from my depression and it felt really good to be able to make something like this. Now a days it's to prove to myself that I can actually do this. I've never had any real accomplishments or at least nothing I've been truly proud of and with this I feel like it's my time to shine and get in the spot light a little bit and yeah a little of showing off a bit that I can do this kind of thing. Thats more or less why I do it and of course I enjoy it.

Actually I would have to admit that I wanted to have a Spartan suit ever since Halo CE came out for the old XBox. I just never had the resources, knowledge and the lack of knowing that the 405th forums existed.
I love it. My friends, family and public love seeing me wear it.
Now its become my fav Hobby! Its better than me being a couch potato.

Well for me its got to be the side story aspect I love writing fan fiction and basing characters of me or people I know, so I guess it's just another way to expand those characters
