Protip: don't use or edit 3D models unless you've gotten permission to do so first. FS doesn't have an OBJ file of his files available in any case, meaning that if you *do* want to use them, you'd have to reverse-export them from Pepakura V3. Aside from
that, I'd also get in touch with the original creator of the wolf head model to ask if you can use that data as well - it's poor form to be using/reverse exporting model data and passing it off as your own, and I'd sure break your legs if I found any of my work being used in this way.
Also, good luck in getting in touch with Scott Scott Ramsoomair about reference pictures. I very much doubt he'll be interested in giving you any art, since he rarely even updates his comics as it is. Best thing you can do is start looking for decent furry art and take inspiration where you can, maybe even look up on some furry sites to ask around if anybody else has this idea.
In any case, onto the critique:
Looking good so far. Though, I suggest you take into account the shape of the muzzle and such when you're designing the helmet. If you're making this for, say, a wolf, you'll need to make sure the nose area not only fits the muzzle, but takes that shape as well. Otherwise, you're just walking around with some ears plastered onto the top of your helmet.
Same thing goes for the legs, too:
digitgrade usually works well in a furry costume, so you might want to try this out if you can develop some decent digitgrade leg armour.
