i guess it's a good thing i'm picky then. If I can ask, how do you go about sizing these to fit properly? I'm working on my custom body armor and I can't seem to get it right.
 
Sometimes I use XtremeTactic101's method, but so far for my Carter build, I've had to measure individual body parts (that's why the first torso I build came out huge). I just looked at a ton of reference pics of spartan III's and got an idea of how much of the body part the armor took and measured that on my body. For the gauntlet, I measured from the upper part of my wrist (the bony part) to about 1 or 2 inches shy of the bend in my arm.

alright, got it. thanks for the help. looking good on the carter build.
 
OMG!!! :O Your models are awesome! I especially love the thigh that you made because if I am not mistaken, it's shaped for the female thigh! :p The male and female body types have different styled armor and it has been VERY hard for me to get the stuff needed to make Kat since nobody has made the female armor pieces. :(

I also like your gauntlet and I know Rhinoc just released a pretty good gauntlet too that I unfolded last night. :p

If you could model a NEW accurate Kat helmet, I would love you! LOL I even noticed your comment about how you can be picky.............I too can be pretty picky when it comes to detail and accuracy. A few members around here are aware of that as well! LOL XD

I used the refs from the bungie file share (post beta) to get the thigh guards. They're similar enough, though if you want I can modify them slightly to fit the female figure a little better. (takes maybe 15 minutes at most)
And it's funny you should ask about making Kat's helmet because I just so happened to be working on it at the moment. Only problem is the amount of 'good' reference out there is pretty limited. I've seen a few of her helmets around here, has there been one that was close to your liking? Do you have the shin guards too? If not I can make those as well.

And you also plan on making Kats' robo arm!!??!?!!?! :O If you could make a really cool looking pep file of that, I might want to check it out. I got GOOD shots of that too. Even got a nice shot showing how it's connected to her body right in the arm pit area. :p I was actually going to scratch build something to fit tightly on my arm. :p

But SJSUSPARTAN, I would really like to see the Kat helmet you come up with. :) I have a nice top view shot of the helmet if you need it. I personally have not seen too many reference shots for Kat's armor. :(

As for the shins, I have someone that made a pair, but some areas still seem a little off to me. :\

yup. need to get off my butt and get to work on Jun's helmet again. I had almost finished it when my old laptop died. I loft everything I had. My helmets, shoulders, and my new MK VII prototype armor. I was not a happy camper about it..
 
Oh and SJSUSPARTAN, if you can get that Kat helmet done soon, that would be great! I am running out of time to get this stuff done and I would be VERY sad if my 3rd attempt at completing a costume failed. :( I never got my DARE costume done in time and I am STILL not done with my hayabusa costume.

But anyway, I was looking at your shin and was hoping that I could use it for Kat, but after looking at the reference shots that I have, there is a HUGE difference between my reference shots and the shins that you have.

I was also hoping to use your thigh piece since the side is shaped nearly perfect for the female, but the back of the thigh is WAY off compared to the female thigh. :( Here is a back view of the thigh on the female:

Thanks HG. I'm starting to think that I can read your mind though. I was looking at the RVB PSA from bungie day and noticed the thighs were off so I went back and fixed it last night. So without further wait, here's the female thigh guards... hope they fit your figure ok.

Also, I redid some work on the guys thighs too. Now you/I don't get poked in the gluteus anymore and they wrap around the leg more.
