according to others he is the one that escorts Halsey to another ship(pelican?)..whether he is really ON the ship or not is the question.

I'm fairly certain Jun is the Spartan who gets killed defending Halsey as she escapes Reach.

Guys, Cortana was created by Halsey through the standard method Smart AI are created: she got a brain, synthesized its neuron-synapse connections, and sparked a program that creates the AI in that matrix. (It's all explained somewhere) Only difference was she cloned her own brain instead of using that of some deceased person. Several of the cloned brains failed to take. Cortana was one of like 3 that didn't break down. She's just a human-created Smart AI. She's limited to a good 7 years, with normal data intake. Given that she absorbed so much Forerunner and Covenant data, her life has probably been shortened (read First Strike. She comments on it) because of the higher data flow through her processor matrix.

Anyway, my feeling is Linda is the frozen Spartan, being as she's frozen from the get-go. Why's she frozen instead of in med-bay? She's so fatally wounded, they'd need more time and equipment than they have to keep her from dying if they tried to save her. So, they put her on ice to prevent her from getting any worse.

Maybe, they just loaded up

Maybe, it is Chief. They reason why he may be in the hangar would be that before th Autumn took off, they had just loaded him up.

Yea, but we all saw how canon Fall of Reach ended up being :)

And she my have used the same method, but we don't know if Forerunner tech was involved in someway. They were in a room full of Forerunner knowledge that she had just uploaded to Cortana when you arrive to pick her up. I don't think it is a very far stretch to theorize that Halsey could have used some of the knowledge she had just unlocked access to in the creation of Cortana.

What was said about Linda kinda makes sense though, wasn't Chief supposed to be blowing up a important database or something around that time?

My theory is the MAIN difference from the book...it that the Pillar of Autumn was in space, then docked on REACH somehow(only certain ships could reenter atmosphere and land) AFTER Chief got back on with Linda and put in Cryo...and now its taking back off again with Cortana.

I am almost done with Ghosts and Linda is alive but i can't tell if its a mistake or not. I can't remember if she later is recovered fully. I have not read First Strike yet.

^^ probably should have read First strike! Explains A LOT!!!! GoO was my first halo book and I didnt understand a THING it was talking about till I read the other books!

The series of events, according to the books, are as follows. There were two simultaneous missions given to the Spartan II's aboard the Pillar of Autum. Chief, Linda and a third Spartan (Sam?)are dealing with the Covenant on a ship that they couldn't confirm had finished the Cole Protocol by dumping it's computer databases. Chief and Linda's job was to make sure that happened. Linda took a plasma round to the chest and Chief threw her into a Cryo tube. The other 30 Spartan II's were sent down to Reach to help defend the Orbital Mac cannons power stations. This could be why Jorge was attached to Noble Team. Of course this is according to the Fall of Reach novel.

^ Sam died earlier on. It was Fred. I have to get reminded to of things. Don't worry.

I have a theory that for whatever reason "Bungie" could not put MC in this game(because of 343). So I do believe it's Linda because it makes more sense, however all the 12yr noobs will THINK its MC ..so not a bad thing.

EDIT: ****...now i don't think it was Fred...arg. anyone?

You're right, Sam was the first to die on the Convenant ship, it was James who was with MC and Linda.

I now completely 100% believe that Kat died due to S.A.F.(Situational Awareness fail).

Kat failed to activate her shields, thous the needle round was able to penetrate the titianium alloy of the helet and undersuit nano-fibers and kill her.

She didn't forgot to activate her shields, but it was probably still down from nuclear EMP... I know MJOLNIR armor is designed to keep running under fire of an EMP, but that is only true for the armor, not the shielding.
and yes, the needle round is able to do that, just think of all the headshots you make with it in matchmaking. and besides, they still don't know what needles are made of.

I think it was just an Easter Egg, and non-canon at all.

the suit suffers from EMP but has backups so the suit can be used normally after a few seconds........

suit systems and diagnostics are anyonomoous but some systems CAN be manually controlled......*

* - shields

-HUD menus

-Helmet lights

-Vision modes and filters

-Visor polarity

-shield strength

-Motion tracker

-failsafe for fusion reactor

-different communications channels

i loved the ending, really was an amazing moment for me. i do think six may have lived for a few minutes after the elite stabed him because i think there were some spartans and even marines who survived an encounter with a energy sword through their abdomen. but the autumn going into halo was the perfect way to end the game in my opinion.

I agree, the ending on Lone wolf made me sad that Noble 6/I died. At least He/she went out fighting.

I do however have to say I really didn't care for Kat. Not trying to be mean, but her attitude was a bit off putting. And her death wasn't glorious either. I'm a bit confused though, I know the whole debate about why Kat didn't have her shields on. {She turned them off, EMP,etc.} But how could a needle penetrate a helmet? I mean material and technological wise I would think the helmet could at LEAST take one head shot without failing.

Anyhow, I'd have to say Kat was the only character I didn't like. Like I said before her death really wasn't epic either. One shot and she dropped like a fly. Jorge sacrificed himself so Noble 6 wouldn't have to and he died thinking he saved Reach. Jun is technically unknown. Emile died helping you and Keys take Cortana aboard the Pillar of Autumn and he managed to jab his blade into the Elite's neck. And Carter went kamikaze on the Scarab. Then Noble 6 died taking out as many elites as he could.

My next question is what would you do if you found Noble 6's helmet in the field?

I agree with the emp of the shileds but, and this was covered earlier, it wasn't a bomb. A cruiser was about to glass there postion. It was a beam not a object falling from the sky. If it was a nuke, covie forces would not have been retreating because they didn't know we where gona drop a bomb. They covies backed out because they must have been notified by the crusier. Plus if it were a nuke they wouldn't have had been able to take two steps before the blast would have destroyed the building they where in. If it would have been a nuke, All of New Alexandria would have been destroyed. So, it was a crusier's excavation beam not a nuke. Remeber that whole place was being glased.
Have you ever seen how much damage a nuke can acctualy do? If it were a nuke it was probaly a defective one. lol XD

carter giving his life in that pelican was awesome, six and emile just wouldn't have made it if he haden't. if i found six's helmet, i don't know. guess halsey was wrong when she said, " you body, your armor, everything burned and turned to glass " his helmet wasn't burned or turned to glass. by they way, what kind of ship was in the background when halsey was talking? it looked like a halcyon cruiser but also looked as if it could have been a forerunner ship of some sort. still not sure what kind of ship that was.

personally i think it was forerunner unless humanity had already reversed engineered fore runner tach to make a ship. We may never know :(

well it is what 50yrs later? So if we have are fingers crossed..we win against covenant and flood and the reverse engineer the forerunner tech. I also think some of the A.I.s already had in the books...

About Kat's shielding...Kurt's entire suit went burzerk when he was next to a engine/electrical field. Who knows.

Can anyone tell me how to get a moderator to PM me? email didn't jive. I can't post threads in "universe" but i could a few weeks ago.

Also the ending of REACH, is like Inception, it's what you make it out to be... If you notice Noble 6 dodges the blade of the white elite because you can clearly see his shoulder didn't get pinned, and the red elite is going to do the only kill move we can presume and it CUTS out. Leaving you to make the decision. Did you fight the best you could? IF you notice you are fighting a day later in a different area, so you were on another mission after the MAC cannon or helping other spartans and if you notice other spartans are dead in the area, leading you to assume you are really badass and the last one alive, so maybe you do SURVIVE.

but hey, your just MIA ;)
